The aim of the game is to score runs by hitting the ball with the bat. If you're not good enough to do that, why should you get a run anyway?

I reckon they should be abolished.

I'm 100% with you on this one, Ginger Fatso.

Leg byes are not credited to the batsman, because he didn't hit the ball.

Leg byes are not given against the bowler because the batsman didn't make runs off the bowling.

Leg byes are not given against the wicket keeper because the ball deflected off the batsman, and are not the 'keeper's error.

So why have leg byes at all?

Never really thought about it. Now you mention it, I guess you two have some valid points.

Absolutely agree with this one. You weren't good enough to hit it so why should your team get any runs?

Make the last few overs of a close one-dayer more exciting. it always annoys me when a side chasing runs gets bloody leg-byes to help them along.

I didn't say it was bodyline, of course it's not bodyline.

I was responding to people who were saying that intimidation is always OK if it's within the rules.

And I thought you agreed with me in that thread?

Haha, I'm the same, 2 weeks ago I made 2, both of which were leg byes which were not called.

Although on the other hand I should have got a run, hit one to fine leg and my teammate called no.
