Legends membership now open

Also looks like interstate social club members can no longer be part of the GF ballot.

Will call the club this arvo to verify.

That is correct but it's only 3 games your missing out on.
It's still 3 games that was included in last years package, having not been a Legend's member before, or ever, is there a price difference this year with 4 less games on the package now? (3 Etihad and 1 less MCG game)

Edit: Just talked to a mate, apparently that is the new "MCG legends membership", this year there will be 2 packages, with the full 17 game legends package full and sold out, they are offering a second option, which basically means, if you don't have either package, you will have next to no chance of getting into the GF in the future.

AFL membership keeps looking better and better, at $515.

But what was the price this year? There were 18 games in this package this year, and now next year there will only be 14. Has the price dropped by the equivalent amount? Or any amount at all?

From what I can gather, my mate had about 870 taken out of his account a few days ago ("Original" Legend's member) so yes this package is cheaper.

It's exactly what it states, it's an MCG only Legends membership, which is completely separate to the already fully subscribed "normal" Legends 17 game package.

Wait, do we not get a reserved seat at Etihad stadium matches now? Someone tell me I'm reading it wrong.
If you are already a legends member yes you do.

I had to check my invoice/bill to make sure.

I suppose the reason it isn't advertised is because unless you are a legends or on the waiting list it isn't available

Actually Matty i think this "NEW" MCG legends M'ship is because the AFL plan to increase the number of tickets given to competing clubs on grand final day by approx 10k. This is part of the new CBA.

So this new category I am guessing will have limits as well probably up to around 5000.

The current Legends is closed and has a wait list.

Just spoke with Chris at the membership hotline, he backed up what damuzzdu says.... with the extra tickets avail for the GF from next year on, the club has created more legends memberships.

Also, the interstate/country social club membership still qualifies as a priority two ballot entry, just hasn't been listed on the site.

Anyone know the process of going from a Student Legends mship to a Adult Legends mship???

You would just let the club know that you are no longer a concession but a full paying adult. Everything else will stay the same...everything except the $ you will be paying!!!!
You will then get an adult membership instead of the green concession one

And I am sure they will be more than happy for you to upgrade!$!

I'm not getting a Legend's membership (at least not this year) but wanted to run by you guys what membership I should get. I was thinking of getting the interstate or the three game membership. I'll probably be going to Melbourne to watch a game next year, but only one or two at the most, and I'm definitely going to the Adelaide match down here. Is it worth me just getting a Three game GA membership instead of the interstate membership?

Bugger! I already bought myself a concession Captains membership last month. If I'd known there was going to be an MCG Legends membership available for 2012, I would have waited and got one of those instead.

I'm sure if you rung the club, they could switch it over for you, I'm just guessing but the MCG legends probably costs more anyway, so they'd be happy to upgrade you.;)

Yep, it does cost more. My concession Captains membership was $35.91 per month. The concession MCG Legends membership is $47.27 per month. I'll get onto the club at some point this week, hopefully, and see if they can change my membership for me. :)

Difference: Legends Membership/MCG Legends Membership

IS the only difference the Etihad games? Or is there more finals perks with the Legends?

Just a guess, but won't the reserved seats handed out to these "new Legends members" be in a worse location then the original Legends?

I know you would have no chance of getting a seat on the second level, almost anywhere in the ground now, which defeats the purpose of paying so much IMO.

Although if you like sitting behind the goals, there's always plenty of empty seats in the bays around the cheer squad, but I'd hate sitting behind the goals for 14 games a year, but that's just me.

I'm with you Mattys. A couple of years ago my Legends membership reserved seat for away games was the row behind the cheersquad. I can't imagine a worse place to watch football from, it was dreadful. I opted to switch to front row of level 3 this year just so I didn't have to sit behind the goals and I will gladly stay there until I reach the front of the level 2 waitlist.

Re: Difference: Legends Membership/MCG Legends Membership

Still plenty of kick ass seats in the southern stand
I know there are, we sit in M15, and only the first 5-6 rows are consistently taken up by Pies fans for home games.

I'd love more to move to that area, the atmosphere for our little group that we know is pretty good, but it could get better if the rows behind us filled up.

Plus, m14, m15 and m16 are about 55-60m out from goal, not too bad IMO, if you don't like sitting behind the goals that is.
