heard a rumour he is training with Sturt? can any confirm this? are we getting him a job, whats his stats?? tell me nowwwwwwwwwww!!!!!!!!!!
 
Carlson is an undersized (185cm) fullback. Been at Coburg these last 2 years. Been a member of the VFL team of the year these last 2 seasons. Would have thought he would be a good pick-up for the SANFL. He is 26 and Richmond might have picked him up if he was genuine KP size. He has a good leap, runs the ball out OK without being overly mobile, and plays pretty tight.

The current Leigh Carlson is no relation to the Fitzroy/Collingwood wingman of the late 70's early 80's.

The 'old' Carlson is 45 years old and still coaching Old Trinity in A Grade - hopefully to finals this year! :D
 
Carlson is an ex-SA guy who chose basketball over footy. He played for the West Sydney Razorbacks and I think was at Brisbane as well. He played footy for Morningside in Qld. Greg Beck (Richmond recruting manager) remembered him and invited him down to Coburg. Now it is clear he won't make it to the AFL he has probably decided to return home to SA. I am not sure but I think Sturt might have been the club where he played his junior footy.

Would be a big loss to Coburg. Coburg I think have lost almost all the non-AFL regulars it seems. If Carlson has gone it would add to Hart, DePasquale, Steinfort(?), Taylor (?) who have left. Butler has gone as well. Really only leave Pagan and Talbot.

Can't tell you if he is related to the ex-Roy though. Probably just a coincedence on the name.
 
Leigh Carlson is staying at Coburg, of course any guy of his talent would consider any offer by any club byt the fact is he has trained with Coburg since the start of Pre season and has not missed a beat.
The guy is a leader around the club and it wouldnt suprise me if he was named Vce Capt to Talbot. Its alot of rumors that surface about footballers leaving and so forth but the Carlson/Sturt one can be laid to rest.
On Garth Taylor, he will also be staying at the club along with Talbot,Carlson and Pagan. I dont think the loss of Hart is much of a worry because the club has brang in some genuine good players.
Anyway sorry to all the Sturt fans but Leigh is staying a Tiger.

Talbot, Carlson ... you know I think the world would just shrivel up into an inconsequential prune if Fitzroy hadn't ever been around to adorn it with substance. :)

for all of 1 week, his been training at Coburg and his going on the Coburg camp next week.
He also met with possible employer the other night so i i can tell you that he is 100% staying in Melbourne with Coburg.
