End of an Era. :cry::cry:

Love you Lenny, all the best for the future champ - you'll no doubt be successful in all your future endeavours.

Not sure many past and present players can lay claim to being an absolutely out and out champion of the game, but an even better bloke.

Didn't really hit home that it was Lenny's last game until he got chaired off the ground.

Fantastic career, he mentioned in the post game interview that he played in some great teams but didn't win the ultimate prize but no one tried harder than Lenny to win us the ultimate prize.

He might not have won the ultimate prize but he was the ultimate warrior, there's been no one tougher to pull on a St Kilda jumper.

He's going to be sorely missed as a player but hopefully they keep him on as a coach or mentor for our young players.

It won't be the same next year without the great man running around in the Saints colours next year. gave absolutely everything to the club and no matter the obstacle still was the perfect showman of STRENGTH THROUGH LOYALTY.
Good luck for future Lenny

Lenny Hayes...
You stand for everything great about our footy club
When the chips were down you always stood up
Your leadership and mentoring will continue to influence players who played with you and against you
The qualities you embody are exemplary ones fit for men or women in sport and in life
No doubt you are and will continue to be a great dad, partner and friend to those around you
We all wish you health, happiness and success in the rest of your journey
Lenny, you rock!!!

Being only 23 years old my memories of St Kilda are limited to about the last 16 years, in that time 2 guys stand out to me for the Saints as exceptional players and people; Lenny Hayes and Robert Harvey. Now both have retired. :(

Best of luck to whatever you choose to do in life from here on out Lenny, a genuine club champion.

Lenny Hayes you were an absolute superstar, gave absolutely everything on the field every single game. Decorated career and he deserved even more accolades than he got. On par with Simon Black as an all time great, but didn't have the fortune to play in a triple premiership standard outfit. Not sure what more can be said about him that hasn't already, just the ultimate player. Tough, courageous, skillful, lead by example and thrived under pressure.

Even in his last season he will give the B+F a shake and easily could've played on. Terribly sad day for the club but I think it was the right time for him to move on, with our list years off it and a wife and young kid. Lenny you are an absolute legend plain and simple!

Well done to Lenny on a magnificent career.

Definition of a champion player but also person.

Always one of my favourite non-lions players, hope you guys keep him on as a coach like we did with Blacky.

Adelaide are dogs. It would have cost them nothing to let Lenny have a shot on goal, like Freo did to Kosi last year. There was nothing at stake in the game.

Glad they missed out on finals.
I have a feeling Lenny wouldn't have accepted that

Lenny farewell and thanks. Not only have I thoroughly enjoyed your skills, character, hardness, fairness, but you have continually made me proud to be a Saints supporter. I wish him well in all that he does post career.

Unashamedly bawled my eyes out last night. I've grown up with Lenny as a constant pretty much and it just felt awful.

On a side note, Nick Riewoldt is never allowed to retire.

Yep. Shed a tear or two.
Never, ever, doubted his effort and passion.

Just on this, have spoken to Beva a few times and you won't find a bloke who knows St Kilda more than what he does. As diehard as they get and you can talk footy with him for hours. Great bloke.
