REPORTS out of Sydney camp suggest Leo Barry will be picked to play Geelong, and probably will replace McVeigh (not directly), whose scans are "not good", according to the club.

They're not ruling McVeigh out for the season ... yet.

And look, sorry to sound harsh here, and I really would love to see a proper farewell for Leo, but for him to play seniors would be a step backwards for the side as it stands at the moment.

I say that because I can't think of any one way Leo would improve the side.

He will provide another tough, experienced body for the notoriously physical Cats. Losing McVeigh is a tough blow and I think the best way to cover for him is to play Leo up forward and Ablett in the middle.

We are certainly going to lose McVeigh, and possibly Crouch, for this match, and I think we're starting to struggle for fit and able replacements. I think if we are trying to pick our best side to make the finals, he should play, and if we're not aiming for finals, then he should be given his due farewell. Either way, he should be selected.

Sorry Grim!!
You heard it here ......second!!:D
I said Ablett, not Goodes in the middle, I don't think they will move Goodes after his performance yesterday. Ling usually towels him up in the midfield, while they could struggle to find a matchup with Scarlett and Taylor missing from last week.

he'll add nothing to the side

but he's a club champ, club champs deserve farewell games

he's also been playing reserves for a couple of weeks now (correct me if i'm wrong), so he's not completely underdone

he can play spare man in defence, in the absence of super ted, or play up forward and release either ablett or goodes to the midfield (the super footy brains above me should decide which)

we're at a point where there isn't much to lose, so why not gift a game to the guy who grabbed the 2005 premiership by the ball

Look, I agree he deserves a game, and if we were completely out of finals contention, of course. But we're suddenly back in some kind of contention, so can we afford to play a bloke who quite clearly is no longer in our best 22???

I'm playing devil's advocate asking the question.

How do you know he's no longer in our best 22?

Add nothing ?
Not in our best 22 because he has been injured, when fit is another thing.

Every team needs a Leaping.:thumbsu:

Injured, slowing, was not impressive in his latter games last season. I don't believe he's in our best 22 any more.

We have Leaping Heath Grundy now. Okay, that moniker might need some work ...

Full-back Barry, who has played 234 senior games, hasn't added to that tally this year since having knee surgery in January.

The 32-year-old played in the reserves against Eastlake on Sunday and was named one of the best on field. It was his third successive hit-out in the reserves and he was back at full-back after making his comeback as a forward.

Barry said he was hoping to be in the selection mix for the ANZ Stadium clash with the Cats on Saturday.

apparently there appears to be some substance to this rumour

either that, or mr pb wrote this article, or the journalist was reading bigfooty

TV reported that it was Leo's last game, was this the case? If so, did he receive a well deserved send off from the team (a win would've been the icing)?

Must have been a mistake, I don't think Leo would have worked so hard over the past months just to have a one-off and miss Micky O's farewell game as well.

^ the commentator's said it, not roos

from the pre-match talk with the boundary umpire, i got the impression that if he was to play well today, he would remain in the side

but i could of read to much into it

Leo must owe Roosy some money given the nice easing back he received yesterday. He started on Hawkins giving away about 15cm, then later on played on a Brownlow medallist in Bartel.
