Daniher craves the real thing

Bring on the Wizard Home Loans Cup. That’s Melbourne coach Neale Daniher’s message after watching his squad go through their latest intra-club hit out at Whitten Oval on Thursday.

Daniher believes the Dees have seen enough of each other after completing their third intra-club practice match. Now their coach says they are ready for the real thing.

“We’re probably sick of playing each other,” he said after the latest hit out. “We’ve played each other three or four times and we’re sick of that. We are looking forward to going up another gear Friday (week).

Melbourne will play Richmond in its opening Wizard Cup clash, and Daniher is pleased with what he has seen thus far in the preseason. He singled out Clint Bizell, Cameron Bruce and Brad Miller for praise after today’s game. Russell Robertson also looked sharp, kicking three goals and rookie list forward Dale Carson booted four.

Daniher rested a number of senior players, but expects most of his list to take part in the Wizard Cup or Wizard Regional Challenge Series.

“Other than Broadbridge, Nicholson, Ellis and Molan, who had an arthroscope on a cartilage, all of the others should have an appearance either late in the Wizard Cup or over the next couple of weeks,” Daniher said.

“Vardy is a couple of weeks off and Yze’s got a sore achilles so we protected him a little bit, but if it was a home and away game he’d probably be playing. Armstrong and Brown could possibly play next week.”

Call me Ms.Pessimistic, if you like,;) , but don't the Dees usually lose to Richmond?.
Going to be an interesting night !

Yeah, the height usually plays a major factor in that, Ms.Storm. I strongly believe the pattern will continue Friday night - It's more of a physical thing rather than a mental thing. Melbourne knows they have a bad record against Richmond (recent times), however, in our great game of Aussie Rules, physical always over-powers mental. Therefore, I believe Richmond should win this in a close game.

Good luck to Melbourne (Storm and Demons) this year. I wish you all the best, Ms.Storm.

They don't always beat us. Okay, the rolled us twice in 2002, but I think you will find it's been fairly even in recent years. We normally play them twice and most of the time (except for 2002) we win at least one of those games.

We will beat the Tigers. No Campbell and no Blumfield means no midfield.

now...i don't know about that !

a little on the young side perhaps...win, lose, draw...all good experience...

ruck : staff
on-ball : coughlan and rodan
middle : Kane johnson.
wings : bowdo + tivvers

not a bad midfield....not bad up fwd either

key fwds : Otto/richo
med fwds : fiora /pettifer/hilton
small fwd/change rover : krak'r.

anyway ...MTBTW ; good luck melbourne.

ruck : staff White will kill him. Jolls will aswell.
on-ball : coughlan and rodan Bah.. rodan. Coughlan is good, but we have many more options. (Chelli, Bruce, Brown, Ward, Rigoni, etc etc.)
middle : Kane johnson. Just him?
wings : bowdo + tivvers Johnstone, Heffernan.

not a bad midfield....not bad up fwd either I'm afraid your 'Not bad' midfield, will get towelled up. Even without Yze.

key fwds : Otto/richo Neita.. only need one with your backline. Gasper is a hack.
med fwds : fiora /pettifer/hilton Green, Wheatley, Bruce, Jolls (tho he's huge), Rogers, Ferguson, Jamar (looking forward to see him).
small fwd/change rover : krak'r. Armstrong, Robertson (pity vards isnt playing) Moorcroft.

Many more options.. though your two bigmen will trouble us. Neita can drift back, or just kick 12 goals himself.
:D
