We have lost pick 35, Allan, Murpghy & Beaumont for 6 guy's 21-24 I think & a 26 year old.
On top of that we keep pick 2 & get Stevens in the PSD.

"Excuse me, whilst I kiss the sky !!!!"

may not get stevens...may opt for rawlings....

and take this as all seriousness from a port supporter...u have done well in the trade no doubt...but stevens is not good, unless someone gets the ball for him...he worked well with francou, and this year pete burger and scho, ...but do carlton have a proven hard ball getter

i can maybe think hulme, (ratten would be ideal)...

carlton will not be a force next season. Carlton will not make the eight. Carlton will be better than last season, they will be more competitive. Their improvement will be more significant if young players like Fisher, Sporn, Waite, Thornton, Angwin etc. can improve and take the next step. The #2 pick this season and more high draft picks in 2004 will see the Blues in a much more commanding position in 2005/6 and beyond.

Thank-you Jimi !!

Given the Blues precarious position over the past two draft/trade periods, the result of this year is nothing short of terrific.

We really didn't lose anything that we weren't resigned to already and seemed to pick up a few guys who should have a point to prove to others. The best part is that they are all under the age of 25yo with the exception of Harford who will be 27 by the time season 2004 kicks off.

The other pleasing part is that we kept our priority pick (which I'm led to believe was never going to be traded anyway, all media speculation) plus Nick Stevens & Jade Rawlings will go into the pre-season draft and as we have second pick in that we have to get one of them.

All in all, we have come out of it extremely well and should be a lot more competitive next year, I am still going to be aiming for an 8-10 finish, finals talk is pure pie-in-the-sky stuff really.

I must say I'm going to be paying particular attention to Brett Johnson, I think he will be the best of the new bunch and could be a very gutsy midfielder for us.

Here's hoping !!!

Been out all day and away from the media or a computer and all I can say is 'I see it but I doooon't believe it! The gods are truly smiling on the Carlton football club today. Quick reality check ... can Demetriou void all trades and hold trade week again or has this been done? Can he alter the preseason draft somehow? It's all too good to be true.

I see you have no problem with your priority pick and are hoping for the bi-annual climb up the ladder again.

Any player that is delisted is a reject but not so with trades. Who did we give up? Overpaid, overage, underachieving has beens. At least we have provided some midfield support for our players. Scotland played in a GF this year by the way.

Get used to that word pathetic yourself mate.

As a North fan I can say congrats to Carlton and yes Dennis has done it again. The trading that Carlton pulled off was nothing short of fantastic and let's hope that the team has a much better season in 2004 than in 03. I don't think that too many people would think that the performance of round 22 will be seen again in 2004 so again well done.

I would take Nick Stevens just to stick it up Collingwood's butt.

Carlton fans will look back on this day as the point where the tide turned. You will still be down the bottom for a while, but more important, you really did improve your list. You dispensed with a few blokes who were never going to play in a premiership, and replaced them with a few players who may play in a premiership one day.

Well done.

why would you want to get a player that does not want to play with you guys?

the bottom line is Collingwood along with most of the other teams don't rate Stevens, otherwise they would have left 'no stone unturned' to get him. He's a reciever and has been playing with the most unaccountable team in the league.......Dave

but l must admit Carlton had no choice but to get rejects...dave

There were plenty of trades on the table for Stevens but Port wanted his full worth. Add to that Stevens was pricing himself over most salary caps and his wish to go to Collingwood and the process was compromised. For their part Collingwood didn't want to get rid of any of their cult heros and were hoping they could waltz away with a lopsided deal like Woewodin last year.

Didn't say Collingwood lost. A few Pies fans insisted that Port would be forced to deal with them though so they might be a tad confused by now.

Collingwood didn't try to screw Port over.
We didn't have much to trade with except midfielders, and Didak said he didn't want to leave.
That's fair enough. Not having a go at Collingwood. Plenty of fans though swore black and white that Port would have to take whatever Collingwood offered, almost to the point of being smug actually.
