Re: Leon Cameron

loved Leon Cameron as a player, gee what tiger didnt, his 3 goals in that losing pre lim are still fresh in my memory...assistants, i dunno what he has to offer beyond what we have...who'd know:confused:

Agree with that. Funny they mentioned Brendan McCartney was voted assistant coach of the year last year. How anyone would know who the best assistant is is anyones guess. On a positive note I'm tipping I'm not the first person to mention this but notice the three coaches to sign with clubs this week all spent time at Richmond as either a player or assistant.

Re: Rocket Eade or gary ayres

Way too much man love for some senior assistant to Dimma, if anything he should have had this day one not three years in.

I am yet to be convinced that we need this role at RFC and I would hope that it's Dimma'a idea not something he has just accepted or been told to get used to? Why add some pressure to the coaching staff that is not needed? He gets enough of that from us mob:D

as for Eade or Ayers............. :thumbsd:

Re: Rocket Eade or gary ayres

Do not let Gary Ayres anywhere near Punt Rd Oval.
May have had semi-success as a coach should be thanking Malcolm Blight every day for it as well by walking into ready made gun teams that he assembled.
Ask Geelong and Adelaide what they think of Ayres;)
Absolute w***er from all accounts that really screwed both clubs before his departure.

Certainly did notice that mitch.

Re: Rocket Eade or gary ayres

Massive no to Ayres.
As for Eade, someone remind me what he actually achieved as coach please?

He had the cameras glued on the box, to see the next installment of Rocket's Rockets. There is a reason the Swans players were pretty much out on strike to get rid of him back when...;)

would love to think you're right prowler but when we have a bloke that currently sits with a win/loss of 30% id suggest there may be a need for some support to make further inroads. there were too many examples in season 2011 that signalled INEXPERIENCE...as in gifting sides 5 goals starts, finding a mid season hole we couldn't clamber out of, losing to sides well below those that we had earlier beaten...and so on. Through the course of the season there are a zillin decisions that need to be made that may or may not shape results, adding an expereinced head to the group might just go some way to improving that embarrasing win/loss record

if we were to agree that managing a side that consistently made FINALS was at the very least one acceptable KPI to recognise a successful coach then rocket eade would be 800% better than anyone that has held the reigns at tigerland in the last 15 years...our coaching group hasnt got enough runs on the board to moubnt a case they dont need any help

Perhaps we let the current coaching staff have a decent crack at it first, Bo? Dogs couldn't wait to get rid of Eade and clubs aren't knocking down his door.

Wow! Any idea who won best doorman? I know to qualify, you had to have silver hair with that slight discoloring that comes with chain smoking. 'Best Assistant Coach' - give me strength!

Re: Rocket Eade or gary ayres

We surrounded an "inexperienced" Frawley with gun assistants and that didnt help much. Let Hardwick sink or swim in his 3rd year of a 3 year contract.

Malthouse will sit out next year and be available in 2013. If Hardwick fails, Malthouse should be our only target.

I hear where you are coming from but our list this year wouldn't have won too many more even if Jesus was sitting alongside Dimma.

Chris Scott walked into a star studded list at Geelong and has them in a prelim. Basing the need for experience looking over a coaches shoulder on win/loss rather than list management is flawed IMO???

Agree. Most of the issues we had this season - inconsistency, mid-year trough, lack of big bodies, poor decision making - won't be solved by adding a senior bloke in the box. Experience and size of our players would have more of an impact I reckon. Besides, didn't Ayers leave the two AFL teams he coached worse off than when he got there?

Re: Rocket Eade or gary ayres

Ayres is performing great at VFL, but had two cracks at AFL level and has shown he isn't worth the effort.

Eade? Well...Mr. Preliminary Final won't really bring anything new to the table...

Sometimes footy needs a fresh mind, fresh ideas and a fresh philosophy, Hardwick brings a great attitude out of our players and if unfairly treated, I don't think the boys would be too happy.

Re: Rocket Eade or gary ayres

The extra fitness, muscles, skills, gameplan work, that will be put into the players like.

Astbury,Grimes,Batchelor,Helbig,Conca,Post,Griffiths,Vickery,Rance,Dea,Martin Etc. Will naturally improve our team more than others because of how young all our players are.

Just takes an improvment of 5 % to make a big diffrence on the field & along with confidence comes arrogance which i love in our players.

2012 ...........we will become a tougher team to deal with.

What I also find funny is that McCartney started his AFL coaching life as an assistant to the Giesch along with Ross Lyon. Who would have thought! Unleash the Giesch!

Having ebbed and flowed from fits of rage since missing the finals for the 10th time in a row, the dust has now settled and Im tuned in...I'll admit that does make some sense..in fact I can recall tony shaw was pumped up with assistants a couple of years in...a worthy point that kinda balances the argument , that said every case is different and I still believe the lack of expereince has cost us making ground at the pace sides around us have in last 18 months

Ross Lyon started out under Walls at tigerland.....remember back then Walls and its one of those 1 out of 100 things, Walls suggested Lyon was the best defensive architect going around. Unfortunately for Lyon, he had Walls as his boss and the likes of Jamie Elliot and Mathew Manfield etc etc to work with..the rest is history ;)

Re: Rocket Eade or gary ayres

All Hardwick has to do is get richmond to 10th & he will be offered an extension.

cant expect a coach to rebuild in 3 years with out the core players,He will get a 2 year extension if you ask me.
