This is something I've been thinking about for a while now...

His 4th year in the system and he’s still not commanding a regular spot in the Saints midfield. Somewhat out of favour although he’s still managed 7 games, but with their midfield of Hayes, Montagna, Dal Santo, Goddard, Jones and co, it's an awfully hard one to break into. I'd say the Saints would be desperate to hold onto him, but given the fact that he's not an automatic first 22 player, he’s got to be exploring his options.

The odd rumour floating around that he could perhaps seek a move to the Gold Coast as he is a Queensland boy, but I say we go hard after him as he's exactly what we need. Not yet 22 years of age, he was a first rounder a couple of years back and while he's shown impressive glimpses, he hasn't quite established himself at the Saints. A real tough, hard bodied midfielder who excels at the stoppages and winning the clearances, he's an excellent tackler (!), he's good around goals, he would boost our midfield stocks dramatically. We've lost Edwards, we're going to lose Goodwin, lets add someone who would be able to step right in and give a positive contribution.

I’m not sure what it’d take to get a deal done, in fact this year is probably the hardest. Our first pick might be inside the top 10 and we wouldn’t want to part with that, but our second pick might be...30’ish? Saints would refuse that. Pick and a player perhaps, or a 3 team deal.

Thompson, Mackay, Vince, Douglas, Sloane, throw in Dangerfield, Cook, we've got the makings of a good midfield, but need more elite talent, Armitage is.

I'm thinking second pick and griffin should do it. His value can't be that high as he really hasn't done much. If the saints want higher than market value then we are nooooo chance.

Who is the type aneale?

we like vanilla footballers who toe the line and never get into trouble, this doesn't always work but it seems we are fine about then sprouting off they are in danger of being moved on at the end of year,

Armitage's reputation off the field won't curry him any favours from NC. Big red stamp - DO NOT WANT goes across Armitage's file.

Yeah point taken. Imagine if we still had Lawrence angwin. Haha. I'm am optimist in that, I believe Craig will change his stance on a few issues at seasons end if he still is around and there is sufficent empirical data to suggest that he should. That's our problem, if there's no scientific data and psychological test results to back up his plans, then nothing will improve

No way. Armitage and elite are at opposite poles. He is a vanilla bona-fide midfielder who can rack it up but makes poor decisions and has ordinary skills and is slow. We don't need his sort at our club. He would be a good B grade midfielder but not someone you can rely on in the engine room week in and week out. Will play lots of games but never be anything special.

WTF are you talking about?

I think Armitage might have to stay in Melbourne to take care of his upcoming bundle of joy. Then again, he might decide its best to leave. Who knows.

Edit: You might also want to keep your teenage daughters under lock and key if he comes to Adelaide.

For some reason I thought of Dennis Armfield when I saw this topic and was about to throw up and reluctantly have a go at you Drum.

As for Armo, he'd fit in well at Rundle Mall at about 8PM...

I wouldnt be giving our second pick up for him in a very good year of the draft. Sure the Gold Coast have the majority of good picks but from what i'm hearing even with our second pick we will get a very good player. In this years draft we must pick talented midfielders because it has become very clear our current midfielders are getting thrashed. If we could trade a player for Armitage i would look at it but i wouldnt be giving away early draft picks at all.
