Just as a topic of interest who do you guys think we would draft out of these three if we won back our priority pick?

For me I'd probably look at Leuenberger and Hansen as we probably don't need fowards as much. Out of these two I would take the best available as I think that in the long term we need a star centre half back as much as we need a star ruckman. The advantage Hansen has though is he will probably play AFL quicker then Leuenberger due to his position. For you guys who have seen more of Leunenberger how long would it take him to be able to ruck at AFL level? Could he be a first ruck anytime next year?

With this in mind I probably have Hansen slightly ahead of Leuenberger right now but I would be happy for us just to take the best available.

By all reports this Hansen kid is a freak but by god do we need a ruckmen. Tough call to make but I hope we are in this position come draft day. I have not seen much of Leuenberger also. I have only heard he will be very similar to Cox when he has a bit more experience.

1) Leuenberger-Ruckman. Apparently the best ruck prospect in years. Great tapwork, mobility and skills. He is everything we have been screaming out for in a ruckman for years.
2) Hansen-Versatile. Can play both CHB and CHF, but we would play him at CHB.
3) Gumbleton-CHF. Don't need him. With Fish, Waite, Kennedy and Fevola as forwards, adding another full time forward would make it far too crowded.

Not according to some. Ryder gave him a "bath" according to a post on the drafts and traade board ;)

Rucks as top draft picks are a risk and BOG in a colts grand final does not translate to a ready made AFL player:)

Either Hansen or Gumbleton would be good choices in the unlikely event of a huge AFL backflip:eek: Both players are capable of playing either CHB or CHF despite people penciling in the Gumbo as just a CHF:)

Look around the league where are the top draft picks playing as key defenders. Many CHB's are actually converted forwards:D

You are just as likely to pick up a top defender from a late pick or rookie selection as you are from a top pick. So even if the rumours prove false and we fail to get another PP if our recruiters are on the ball we can pick up a great backman anyway. We will just have to wait a few years to find out:thumbsu:

i heard the other day that Leuenberger is the quickest at his club over the 200 which is an amazing thing for such a big man. i think it was jake niell on sen (as much as i dispise him). could be interesting!

"One" of the quickest over 400m, but still not a bad effort.

Think of it this way if we take Leuenburger and Gibbs that will mean that we will have a almost complete onball unit all coming up through the ranks together and learning from each other and how each other moves and thinks, imagine how good Leuenburger, Gibbs, Murphy, Blackwell, Simpson, Bentick, Jackson, Walker, Russell, Smith will be at set plays in 3 or 4 years after coming through together. We need that major piece in the puzzle that is a ruckman to complete our centre structure of the future, if we can bind this group together into a working midfield there is less chance of one of them leaving and going home, we have the chance if, and at is a big if, we get the 1st round PP to set up our future and put together a possible Eagles like midfield for the years to come.

Leuenburger the final piece in the puzzle:thumbsu: :thumbsu:
