What is the go with Lewis Johnston. Tall Forward to compliment Jack Watts

Is he any good? Should we try and get him from Sydney?
 
He was a good junior, but has been largely unsighted since moving to Sydney.

I have heard that his mental application isn't the greatest, but then again, one can't take that sort of unsubstantiated talk too seriously.

It's hard to say.

Despite the fact he is (I think) yet to play a game, he is a young KPF, and we all know they take time to develop. Moreover, he was a a 1st round selection, and the kid has plenty of talent, so I think Sydney would be keen to allow him every opportunity to improve as a footballer before they moved him on.

In that sense, I think Sydney would want quite a bit due to his potential, but Melbourne would probably be unwilling to match their valuation due to the fact he hasn't done anything of note thus far in his AFL career. With this in mind, I think it would be hard to get a deal done.

The Swans may settle for a pick between 15-20, but realistically, I think he'll probably stay in Sydney, and I think that's what the club would want as well.

Funnily enough i thought the same thing about Lewis last week, even started a thread on the Swans board asking how he was travelling and why he wasn't getting a game etc. They said he had injury troubles early, and yes, there are question marks about his application.

Also, I believe he's not an overly tall KPF (193cm if I remember correctly) - do we already have enough options at that size?

Saying that, he was an absolute gun junior and I'd be interested for sure if he wanted out of the Swans.
 
Would love to get this guy to Melbourne, but he sure wouldn't come cheap, Swans would definately want a 1st round pick for him considering he was pick 12 a couple of years ago, and Bradshaw doesn't have long left. He's the kind of player we need though up forward, was the leading contested mark getter apparently in his draft year. Another possiblility from the Swans is Daniel Currie who plays ruck as well, and he would come cheaply, looked good in a couple of pre season games this or last year.
 
Don't think he'll be going anywhere since he is only in his second year.
 
Listed as 191cm by the Swans but certainly plays taller than that. Was the leading contested mark taker in the 2008 TAC Cup and named AA CHF.

Exactly what we need - young, big bodied presenter who can play FF or CHF, take contested and pack marks and kick goals.

Has had a few injury troubles but is also behind Bradshaw and White in his position.

I would offer pick 12 plus a fringe player to get him - but Ive always rated this guy very highly. Doubt that theyde let him go though.

He's still contracted and is highly rated and definately WON'T be traded, as we are lacking in young tall players in my opinion.

Oh and it's Johnson not Johnston by the way. ;)
 
Would have to be an exceptional offer i dare say. He hasn't debuted yet but the club really rates him and all going well he will take over when Bradshaw retires. He apparently has to work on defensive stuff and that is what the coaches have been getting on his case about. Has had quite a few injuries too in his first 2 years at the club and this year was really his first full year of playing regular footy in at the club.

He's only 19 so I would say the Swans will be keeping him at all costs.
 
He will not be going only if an exceptional offer was made. Dan Currie might be on the table and you guys do need Ruck Prospects.

Thanks for your input (not facetious). What about Daniel Currie? would he be up for trade? Don't know if you're joking with spelling, but it is Johnston

I would say Currie would definitely be up for trade, can't seem to make a break through with Pyke, Mumford and Seaby ahead of him.
 
Is he one of the players that Roos said (after Sydney's patch of bad form) should be getting a game but isn't doing the things the clubs asked of them in the 2's?

Same question for Vespremi, where is he at?

Same deal I think. Commitment, attitude and defensive work have all been thrown up at various points. Ressies watchers have mentioned that he gets puffed out in an ACTAFL game. Someone else was talking to McPherson or Dew (Who are the ressies / development coaches) and they said fitness was a big issue.

There's been a massive bigfooty rumor that's gotten momentum that he's talking to Melbourne clubs, so uh.... trade for a first round pick?
