Hey guys, a loyal blues man from the mallee area. Never got on board b4 but the little bloke upset me tonight on the footy show. What a little man to make the comments that he did tonight! Commented on "thats not how the game is played", not bad for a bloke who played in a way that no one else had previously, because they relied on talent and ability rather than the other options! Should be looked at real hard for a target of a civil matter in the courts, he has cast a slur on the club that is almost unprecedented! Not much of a bloke to speak up after the fact, scared of speaking face to face to people and speaking his mind. Like his footy better at talking/hitting when they are not looking or otherwise pre occupied. Dissapointed but not surprised by him after what the Dogs have copped from him lately! Looking forward to a more promising year and hope to see more now with pay tv? Go Blues.
 
The thing that amuses me the most is that people blame Carlton.

The AFL put a system in place, Carlton take advantage of that system to best suit their situation and suddenly its Carltons fault.

Blame the AFL if anyone for having a stupid system in place.

(Not that I don't hate you guys :D )

Richmond won as many games as us last year so whose to say you guys didn't tank???

What's Libba trying to do though seriously? He's come up with two ridiculous commentsin the last fortnight or so.
 
Interesting to note that he came out with these comments in the very first week on the footy show, money scheme. Very sour grapes as their is obviously no way he would have said this if he was still on the Blues board.
He is a little attention seeker. Not only does he lash out on his former club that he played for a while ago, but then he turns on the team he helped coach. Thats the end of your stint with anyone regarding the AFL Libba. Glad we got rid of you..

Who were these star players that Libba was referring to that we rested?

I loved how he questioned the move to play this 'unknown rookie' Jamison at full-back- the same unknown that will probably get that spot all year.


It was quite amusing how he questioned the legitimacy of selecting a few young kids, who didnt deserve their spot. These same kids- jackson, bower, grigg, hampson- that will all be playing in our round one team....... yeah real Fishy.


I think Hutcy should have worded one of the questions- "libba, are you just talking crap- because everyone knew you couldnt coach- and the only thing you are probably good for is spotting your roided up brother while he does deadlifts, cmon mate this is purely trying to have a crack at a team who got rid of you".

But we should not be blamed. The system in place is a joke and any other club in the same position would of done the same thing.

Hell, we would of copped flack if we DIDN'T tank. Damned if we do, damned if we don't.

The AFL are the ones to blame.

Libba kept talking about 'ruining the game' and 'not in the best spirit of the game'. What a hypocrtical scumbag. One of the dirtiest players of the modern era doesn't deserve to talk of such things.

Reminds me of the caller after we beat you the second time last year, said he wouldn't renew his membership if Carlton won another game in the last four rounds.

Why would you go and give an interview on tv and make insinuations about people being told to lose if you weren't a witness or didn't have proof? With the crap he's coming out with now, it wouldn't surprise me if he'd tried to blackmail the club into giving him the senior position. This is probably payback.

So Travis Johnson was left unattended. Er, so was Ryan Houlihan - they both cleaned up. Nice of you to show the other side of the story. Not. Hutchy is ignorant of how highly rated Jamison is too if he thinks it's suspicious that he was played towards the end of the year - he obviously has no idea how the nominated rookie rule works.

And who were the kids that supposedly got games without deserving them near the end? Hampson? Grigg? Bower? What a joke! They might all all be in our best 22 this year, and FFS - kids are all we have. Fev had 6 ops over summer and is still recovering - thank feck we put him in before the season finished. Thornton was limping out the season for no benefit, so replacing him could only have improved our chances.

We'll get a please explain from the AFL for sure, but unless Libba's got more than his bitter opinions and baseless - cowardly - insinuations, and I say he doesn't, then the AFL will just shake its head and say "nothing to answer".
 
This is not really a carlton issue, its an AFL issue.

We all know that tanking occurs on various levels to get the most out of a flawed system.

So we rested players and cleaned up minor injuries? Didn't the kangaroos do that at the end of the 06 season?

We played kids? See every team in the bottom 4 over the past 5 years.

Hopefully now that the pressure is really on the ALF, we can make steps to ditching priorite picks and initialising some form of lottery system.

Dont bag out Carlton, we're not the first, and surely wont be the last under the current system.

Tomorrow morning I am coming back into this thread and any opposition supporters that haven't already copped infractions better take a close look at the level of respect and intent of their post and make the necessary adjustments.
 
I don't know what Libba's motivation was and I don't agree with what he did. Having said that, tanking is an issue. I'm convinced Carlton did it last year and I'm equally convinced it's happened before and will continue to happen unless the AFL pull their collective heads out of the sand and take some action.

I don't blame any club for going after the best young talent available once they know they're out of the finals race. The AFL have a responsibility however to ensure the integrity of the competition is maintained and remove the incentive for clubs to deliberately lose matches.

So, while I don't agree with what Libba has done, hopefully some good comes of it. Hopefully it draws the AFL in to taking some sort of action, perhaps abolishing the priority picks and even implementing a lottery system which gives the bottom club the greatest chance of receiving the first pick without actually guaranteeing it.

Again, I would have expected my team to do the same thing Carlton did, especially given Judd was on offer. Good luck to them.

Now I know that Pagan and Libba were both a waste of space as coaches of our club (what the hell was our board at the time thinking).

Libba first learn to at least speak better than Stallone before you put your stupid thoughts out again on tv. You've made an idiot of yourself.. "It was never said, but I felt it".... Yeah feel my foot up your midget arse!

And HUTCHY... you know nothing... oh you think you are so controversial... wake up and do some research into things before you go on your little witch hunt. Are you Caro in a suit?
