Licence is being handed back to the AFL who will consult with the SANFL on directors. Unlike Sydney the price is higher than $1 for the licence so Vlad is making the clubs pay for it.

We get to pay for being allowed 2 member elected directors as long as the AFL/SANFL find them acceptable and not having to pay the SANFL dividend. 15 years later we are almost free of the SANFL.

In an ideal world we would have full voting rights and be part of the SMA along with the tealsters while leasing the ground to the SANFL for the finals series.

So we are paying the money to maintain the status quo.

You know we don't have a choice, right?

I know that we don't have a choice. However, presently the sanfl owns the license and control everything we do by way of appointing the board. We are being led to believe that we are buying back our license by paying something like $15m over a few years. My question, again, is what are we buying and how will it determine how our board is convened. We can only be a member run club or an afl/ sanfl franchise. So what is the difference. It's either member driven self-determination or more of the same afl sanctioned, pineapple rogering bullshit. And in the meantime the sanfl can screw us in two ways, the first via the sma and the second via maintaining board influence.

We are starting to look like the soulless franchise that the port adelaide supporters accuse us of.

CASH COW?, CASH COW? Did anyone order a cash cow? At least the magpies have to bend over because they've got no money. We, on the other hand, LOVE IT!!

Under current AFL policy there is no changing to a fully member run club.

The AFL should be paying the SANFL for the licence but they won't.

Port Power have the same deal with a lower price so not much to crow about either.

So we are saying that the adelaide football club is paying out the sanfl for the license to then hand it straight back to the afl. Port are irrelevant in the fact that their current existence is courtesy so afl/sanfl loans/grants. But we will be paying for our license and there has to be some form of self determination attached to that.

The only other options are;
1. Fully afl controlled.
2. Fully sanfl controlled.
3. A combination of 1& 2.

Surely not, what would be the point of any change at all. By virtue of port being out of cash,causing the sanfl to not have a bargaining chip, combined by our own inept administration we presently sit at option 1 anyway. Even though we are technically option 2. I can see this license thing dying a natural death. Sounded like a good idea, but in reality it is an impossible sell. Even the lamington brigade will have a hard time understanding how buying our license for $15,000,000 (how many thupney bits is that marge?) results in us still being controlled by the sanfl or worse, the afl. I reckon the triggmeister & chappy will be working on the constitution for quite some time.
