An inspiring read, something different from the crew at Cracked.com

Gave me a lift, hope it can do same for others...

5 Reasons Life Actually Does Get Better

Some choice quotes:

Getting down about success with romance at this point is like giving up on a team in the preseason. In your early 20s, your starting players haven't even come off the bench yet.

.

We forget that what is happening now is the opposite of what your parents did. They sheltered you from bad news, but the news media shelters you from good news. They literally filter it out; among all of this horrible information coming out of the nightly news, there is so much good that goes unreported because it doesn't get the same ratings.

A great read that resonates with me as a Gen-X.
Can say I've been through a few of those stages, except my parents have been pretty good and my wife and I have been together since we were 21, 20 years ago:eek:
Going through a bit of a mid-life stage (not crisis) where I question whether I could've studied harder at school and pursued a different career, although I'm in a good job I'm not sure it's my ideal career.
A mate of mine has been in the same job for 17 years and hates it but he's almost known nothing different, he either stays put and works on for another 20 years or takes the plunge shortly before there's no return.

Anyway, didn't mean to ramble, your post and link definitely provoked these thoughts from me:thumbsu:

That's a sensational innings, Ferris, long may that partnership continue. I came close to this, like yours, but it unravelled 2.5 years ago (amicably, I might add; was still painful at times).

I've also changed course career-wise this month.

Changes like these definitely keep you on your toes, some of us (not all) tend to get a bit comfortable, eg. same job, same partner, and we complain but jeez, we have a lot to be grateful for, this country and footy just two examples.

Point #1 is bullshit though. I think it is more that at some point you just stop giving a **** and start reclining in your hand stitched, slave laboured clothes with less guilt.

I can relate too this, I wouldn't say I hated high school but it definitely wasn't the favorite time of my life.

Uni was fun but it gets old, I think since I started my grad job in January I've probably been happier as a whole than I ever have been.

Seems to have made me more confident and as gay as this sounds I kinda feel like I have my place more than I did when I was just floating round at uni not really doing much.

Everyone needs a purpose.
