LINDSAY Gilbee is in doubt for the Western Bulldogs' clash with North Melbourne after injuring his ankle at training.
Gilbee limped off the Western Oval to have the injury assessed but will be named in the side, according to coach Rodney Eade.
Eade said Gilbee, who was caught in a tackle, had hurt his ankle in the game against Port Adelaide in Darwin two weeks ago.
He said the attacking backman was training for the first time since suffering ligament damage.

And Goodwin

ADELAIDE captain Simon Goodwin will spend a second week on the sidelines as he fights to overcome a knee injury.
Goodwin sat out his side's win over North Melbourne and earned an extra week's recovery with the split round, but will still miss the clash with the Sydney Swans at AAMI Stadium on Saturday.
The 32-year-old's next match will be the 250th of his career.
However, the Crows have received a boost with confirmation that forward Brett Burton will make an awaited return via the SANFL this weekend.
Burton had his knee reconstructed after tearing an anterior cruciate ligament against Collingwood in round 15 last year.
Coach Neil Craig told afl.com.au last week that Burton only needed clearance from medical staff to make his comeback

Probably could've just posted this in the injuries thread :o

I have Gilbee, Goodwin and Cox (and Cornes).....

Oh well

I have Gilbee, Cox, Goodwin and Drummond. All short term injuries. Not really much you can do about them which is a bit annoying. If both Gilbee and Drummond miss i will be forced to cop a donut.

I'm trading Cornes as he has 4 weeks left and I'm concerned he'll come back and play a few games then rest for 2010....

Perhaps this should become the round 13 injury thread?

Anyway, Hamish Hartlett's hamstring has flared again

http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/79278/default.aspx

It doesn't sound super serious but is unlikely for the weekend's game. He has now missed 5 games (I think) since I picked him up. I may need to change my plans for this week and upgrade him. Either that or start my main man Beau Muston again ..... groan

Very frustrating.

Might as well keep going lol. Doesn't seem Drummo is as much of a lock this round as first thought.

THE BRISBANE Lions will decide on Thursday whether to take a punt on injured defensive lynchpin Josh Drummond against Melbourne at the Gabba on Saturday night.
Drummond's strained calf was set to undergo a rigorous workout in the Lions' main hit-out for the week, an intensive closed session on Wednesday night at the Gabba.
Lions assistant coach Adrian Fletcher said Drummond would be rushed back into the side if fit, despite the defensive pressure being eased by the return of Daniel Merrett and Joel Patfull.
"We pick our best side week in, week out and if Drummo is fit and we believe he can play his percentage of game time, we've got to pick the best side," he said.
With coach Michael Voss vowing to retain the in-form Lachlan Henderson and Jason Roe in the backline, the Lions have a mathematical dilemma; trying to fit everyone into a back six desperate to impress.
"It's a great dilemma to have," Fletcher said.
"It's probably the first opportunity we've had all season to try and squeeze eight defenders into six defenders."
"We've just got to make sure the team balances up, we've run well all season; we just don't want to take away our run."
Fletcher said giving players regular games when they were in form was a priority for the coaching staff, with youngsters such as James Polkinghorne, Daniel Rich, Sam Sheldon and Scott Harding now regulars in the side.
"We always make sure that we reward the people who play their roles and are in good form, and that's a really important component of getting better as a side," he said.
Fletcher said the Lions had not spoken about last season's heart-breaking one-point loss to the Demons in round 14.
The defeat ultimately proved costly as the Lions faded during the latter part of the season to finish in 10th place, two wins outside the top eight.
"It's a new season, we wouldn't speak about last year anyway," Fletcher said.
"We've got a new game style; it's our first real chance to play Melbourne under Michael Voss so we'll see what happens."
Saturday night's game pits number one draftee Jack Watts against the NAB AFL Rising Star favourite, Daniel Rich.
While Rich (pick number seven) has played every game and been a key contributor in his debut season, Watts has managed just two games at the top level.
Fletcher said Watts' lack of game time was understandable given that he was a key forward.
"Key position players take a lot longer; they've got longer limbs, they take time to fill out," he said.
"They're like big giraffes when they first come to a footy club and Daniel's played senior footy in Western Australia; they're totally different players."
"Watts is going to be a great player. It will take time, he will build his body and he will be a very good player in the future

its gonna be one of those rounds where everyone will be sweating on selections and fearing late withdrawals of key players, I reckon.

Personally, I have Drummond, Clancee Pearce, Ballantyne, Liam Anthony, Matthew Stokes and the ubiquitous Big Cox all in doubt. Can cover all but Cox (assuming I trade Jack Z for someone).

bloody hell, got gilbee, cox, goodwin, drummond, bench players down back are petrenko and cheney, so got some cover for gilbee and drummond, mitch brown to cover for goodwin again, no cover for cox.
unfortunatly i am playing a dud in my league that doesnt have these good players, so he doesnt have to worry about it all and i might lose, argh!!

yes, very unfortunate. ah well, 1 doughnut down back this week, possibly 2 if gilbee doesnt come up, im not up against much in terms of quality in any league so it shouldnt matter

Im in the same boat,
goodwin, drummond and gilbee...m brown to cover goodwin but petrenko and cheney on the bench in the backline so two potential zeros, but gilbee has been named and petrenko as a emergency so here's hoping! although being a crows supported i'd rather cop the zero and have petrenko sit out, although he did get 80 last week...
