Who do you think will be in our starting line up and how good do u think it will be conperred with other teams?

EY MIKAEL...ITS DEAN!!! Any way, i would more so be asking the question, who will fill Essendons:

1) CHB hole
2) HFF holes
3) EMG holes :p
4) HBF (is a problem and i havent seen a HBFer for Essendon in a while, but still got McPhee and Lovett-Murray to Rebound off defensive 50..., but is still urgently needed in the line up for round 1 2007.)

I would also like to see Essendon pick up Gumbleton (and not Leunberger) and so he can be a huge part of ur forward 50 next year, although if i was Essendon, i would rather go with Hansen, who can play in defence, in which in Essendon's case, is urgently needed.

P.S: i can assure you that this is a non troll...

Ok this is my first post, but i'll have a go. I've been secretly reading other posts for a couple of weeks now, and have been quite addicted to all the trade and draft talk.

B Slattery, Fletcher, Nash
HB McPhee, Lee, NLM
C Bradley, Watson, Dempsey
HF Hird, Lucas, Johns,
F Monfries, Lloyd, Lovett,
Foll Hille, J.Johnson, Stanton
Int Ryder, MJ, Dyson, Winderlich

In putting together the team I decided to adopt a lot of a youth policy. After a year when you don't win any more games than Carlton IMO you've got to give the young guys a try and find out if they can play. Some of the regulars are still there because young bodies won't be able to grind out a full season. I also expect that the young guys will be constantly rotated. Perhaps this is more of a hopefull end of year team  Guys like Heff, Camp, McVeigh, Cole will probably start in the opening game. Bradly on the wing is more of me being hopeful, and I expect Hille will drop back to help out. In all I expect that there are too many holes to cover.

All going to plan expect some of the following transitions. Some to occur quicker than others.
eg Ryder for Laycock/Hille. Slattery for MJ. Dempsey for the Heff. Winderlich for Campo. Pev for Neagle. Welsh for Nash.

In terms of how we will finish, I don't expect huge things. Using Hawthorn as a guide for developing young players, climbing a couple of spots is all that is expected. Probably will finish the year strongly to do ourselves out of a couple of nice draft picks. Despite how the media will contiually hype up Essendon as potential top 8 prospects every year, it won't happen.

Quite a nice looking team - lots of potential and still room for the odd draftee to debut!
Mind you it will never be quite the same with out Solly!!!!!

Looking at that team, can anyone spot a player who might strugle to hold his spot in that side?? MJ springs to mind for me.

B Welsh, Fletcher, McVeigh
HB McPhee, Lee, Nash/NLM
C Winderlich, Stanton, Dyson
HF Hird, Lucas, Lovett
F MJ, Lloyd, Monfries
R Hille, JJ, Heffernan
I Laycock, Bradley, Johns, Watson
E Campo, Slattery, Dempsey/Lonergan

FB: Welsh, Fletcher, Mcveigh
HBF: Mcphee, Lee, Cole/NLM
C- Dyson, Watson, Winderlich
HFF- Johns, Lucas, Lovett
FF- Monfries, Lloyd, Hird
FOLL- Hille, JJ, Stanton
INT- Laycock, Bradley, Cole/NLM, MJ

Not including Draft picks....i Put Cole on the HBF because he could provide a bit of hardess in the backline left by solly. Thats not the team i would like to see but what i think sheeds will go for.

:thumbsu:

I really hope Dyson and Winderlich can develop and take a big step next year along the lines of Stanton and become our centre line for years to come because their is certainly some bloody pace, skill and run in those 3.

Absolutely, that center line would be very exciting to watch.

Thats a great first post! :thumbsu: u might be surprised next year Duck on how far we will go....but...it all comes down to injuries..we have got a great list and if they can keep them running all year with few injuries(ie-sydney and west coast) anything can happen.

Haha yeah I had the same problem, I edited my earlier post about 3 or 4 times.

Good problem to have but we need to recruit a KPP who can play back in the preseason draft. If something happens to Fletch we are up *&^% creek again. We seem to have lots of players about the same.

Interesting, every one has Lee at CHB. Would need to bulk up a bit over summer though.

Looked big before the season was over...some core strength conditioning over the summer will have him cherry ripe.

He's bulked up already.

I always think a little more wouldn't go astray. Would love to have somebody who could stand toe-to-toe with Brown and Tredrea - it is but a dream I have.

His biggest strength is his agility and running ability. We don't want him losing that. But no doubt a few kg's would help, he started the year at 90kg's and I reckon he's bigger than that now.
