I'm not a big fan of all of this hype at the footy - they did the same at my NRL Club's home games and I eventually stopped going. The game was basically becoming superfluous to all the other rubbish.

I got to the home Showdown earlier this year. I have no problems with pre-match entertainment of any kind, but that, umm, fist thingy, was somewhat cringeworthy. The two bimbos from the local radio (I assume one was the person of interest in this thread) were desperately trying to get Port and Crow fans to "hug" IIRC. I think that's because the media had spent the previous week saying it wasn't safe to be around Port's neanderthal supporters or something. Stupid.

What I really struggled with was the "Barrack Now" messages on the big screen. It may have been just me but IMHO that actually reduces crowd participation rather than increases it. We are not a patch on venus like the SCG where in my view the scoreboard is used very well - lots of info about the players, stats etc and not just a huge over-loud billboard....

I can't understand a word she says but I have been told by someone who can understand some of what she says that it is dribble any way. Apparently she said that Saturday nights game was the last game of the round

Well I don't about 'you' but I reckon they've dropped the volume a notch for the past 2 games?

I have to admit also that being in a different bay for the QF(almost 2 bays around from my usual spot but same row), I noticed I was not directly under a speaker and therefore the volume was considerably more tolerable. I think I'll have to shuffle around a bit next year to get away from the PA. I was quite amazed at the difference TBH.

One more thing - I have made a point of complaining about all this over-zealous ground announcing stuff in every survey completed this year. I doubt I'm alone? Maybe it's being noticed?
