Many of the trading threads have pointed to the fact that Barlow maybe on the trade table. Truth is we have many that should be on the market, as we should be looking at bringing Weller, Blakely and Langdon into the side (2 each game).
Looking at our mids :

Fyfe, Bennell, Mundy, Hill, Neale - Elite (certain starters)
D Pearce, Barlow, Sheridan Tier 2 (Best 22 in 2015)
Mzungu, Suban, De Boar, C Pearce - Run with players\Defensive Mids (2 likely to play)
Weller, Blakely, Langdon- Upcoming (leaving Mora out of this)

15 mids here.
I have 9 starting with best 22 available (leaves 6 playing for Peel which is too many experienced AFL players to be in that position). Probably have to allow for 3 injuries\suspensions an any one time.

So we should be looking at getting some value from up to 3 of these I would have thought. Who would be most likely to be wanted by other clubs?

Hard to predict what happens in regards to injuries, suspensions and the like. It's better to have excessive midfielders with alot of players motivated to perform well week in week out. Whereas 5-10 years ago Freo barely had one or two elite midfielders. Good predicament to have.
Of the list- have to say De Boer, Suban, Clancee Pearce, Mzungu and Barlow should be up for trade or considered as options.

Yep.

I'm a big fan of Clancee because I think he gives us back pocket cover and has the best disposal of the 4, but realistically a couple of these guys need to go. None are best 22 next year (assuming Sheridan and Crozier are preferred) and ideally we would play Langdon/Weller/Blakely/Grey for a few games each.

Keep 2 for injury cover. Trade 2 for pick upgrades and/or deal sweeteners.

Bennell is just such a good get.

Assuming he stays on the narrow, this has set us up for the next 6 years.

Fyfe, Bennell, Neale, Hill, Walters all 25 or under.

Crozier, Sheridan, Weller, Blakely, Langdon, Sutcliffe, Grey all 23 or under.

We could genuinely not draft another mid for 4 years and still be perfectly fine.

All efforts must now go towards the forward line and defence (both talls and mid size guys).

They are due for more than a few games each surely. It will be interesting to see what RTB and the match committee do re-selection early in the season.

Good teams need 10 players in the 22 that are genuinely capable of playing through the middle. If all available in rd 1 I'd have;

Fyfe
Mundy
Hill
Bennell
Neale
Barlow
Weller
Blakely
D Pearce
Suban

with big question marks over the last two to perform or make way for Langdon and one of Grey, Clancee, MDB or Mzungu.

We may even draft a Hibberd or Jeffs with pick 22 if there aren't any good talls available?

Really hope we play Weller over the defensive mids you've listed. If not he will walk at the end of next year.

I think the most talented teams can afford to line up their better players away from their best positions.

FB: X, X, X
HB: Hill, X, Mundy
C: X, X, X
HF: Bennell, X, Fyfe
FF: X, X, X
R: X, X, X
I: Barlow, Neale, X, X

I wouldn't mind us drafting a small forward option. Lets face it Ballas wasn't at his best last year and he will be turning 29 next year. Young Rioli in this years draft would be a great get but probably out of our reach.

I think a lot of people have Rioli rated in the late 2nd, it's only really the combine which has people going bananas, not his actual output.

Personally I think small forward is the last thing we should be looking at drafting, with such glaring long term holes at KPF (even with McCarthy), KPD, on the half back flank and possibly even at ruck. Walters to the midfield is just insane to me now we've added another genuinely elite mid.

He was AA in 2014! He will be around for another 3 years I would hope.

I would rather roll mids through the forward pocket than recruit a genuine forward pocket. Happy for young ones like Weller and Langdon to get a chance there, and of course Crozier (yes I get that he is more a flanker). And of course very happy for the likes of Bennell, Neale, Hill and Pearce to spend time forward or back as suits needs.

Even if we recruit someone along along the lines of Brown, Casboult, Black or Shaw, I think our forward line will have the weakest contingent of talls we have had for a long time. I think McCarthy is unlikely too, and is not 2016's saviour. Fyfe seems like at least part of the solution. And Lyon clearly needs to engineer a revamped strategy.

I also think Crozier and Sutcliffe should be included on the list. Not pure midfielders, but I could see Hughes or Grey creating a place for themselves back, with Sutcliffe getting a change of job description as a result. And I do not really think Crozier will play full-time forward. Those guys have the skills to improve our transition, so I can see them roaming midfield a bit more, especially if it displaces the likes of the lesser skilled incumbents.

Fyfe should be made to play forward.

But its a big ask, as he is getting to his peak and playing forward essentially denies you a brownlow medal.

A third of those guys will be gone in two years, either delisted or retired, maybe even traded. If one can be used to get McCarthy apart from the elite group do it. If we can swap a role player for a cheap key forward why not as well. No point trading a Mzungu or Suban for a pick 70 or a 2-4 pick upgrade in the third round. Keeping them on the list for 12 months then delisting them will actually be more valuable.

I believe Harley is 23.

Really not concerned about Weller leaving. I want players playing for Freo that love it here and love the club. If there's already concerns about him wanting out / joining his brother at the Saints, FMD just trade him out. Got no interest in acting like a desperate ex-GF just to keep a smallish, unproven mid.

Unproven because he hasn't been given a proper shot. I blame the sub rule for that. Should get to see more of him next year and I believe he will hold his spot in our side once given the opportunity

We are talking about a kid in his first year after being drafted to a top four team with a midfield boasting Nat Fyfe, Stephen Hill, Dave Mundy, Lachie Neale and Mick Barlow. He has done well to get a game at all.
