That’s what I was thinking from the very limited info I have seen of him, another small mid who can ‘play’ as a small forward, he’ll have a high level SANFL/VFL career but that’s his level.

Whereas we have so many holes in the list currently we could try and fill.

Hes better than Murphy, and probably at a similar level to Berry IMO.

But I would be looking at a young ruck, of which there are a few.

Fine for Edwards to ‘have another string to his bow’ but given our half back depth and the screaming need for more strength and speed in the midfield, he should be playing there in the SANFL rather than Murphy.

We've already got two "Undersized KPD but really a third tall interceptor" in Keane and Worrell, plus whatever Borlase is, chasing Leek Aleer to be yet another player too short for the role is exactly the sort of mistake we'd make.

Leek Aleer height isn't a concern at all given his prodigious leap and strong body....however his kicking has been a very big worry, No AFL draftee has ever got near his running vertical jump record. Also has a 75cm standing vertical jump under his belt. If we did recruit him hopefully we'd have a smaller running defender running by for the handball.

The quality of tall forwards outside the system would be crap. Might as well just play McAndrew in the role.

I don’t think we are, don’t we have a 2 year deal on the table? Sounds like he knows we have no alternative and is expecting to extract more. If we had a likely replacement we wouldn’t have offered him 2 years. He’s a fairly cluey bloke and I doubt his agent is a fool.

I think the guessing between those 2 includes that he’s saying he hadn’t yet made up his mind. So it’s an overall guess, not a conditional guess based upon him having already decided to leave Saints.
