I know where barely half way through the year, but I was just wondering what peoples views were regarding our list next year. Up to about a month ago I pretty much believed players like White, King, etc were all but gone. However, they have both been okay the last couple of weeks.

Personally at this stage, I would say the following are in trouble to remain on the list next year:

- Jordan McMahon: Pretty obvious. Was in the same boat as Tuck and King at the start of the season, but Tuck and King have worked their way back to the top level while McMahon is still rotting in the seconds.

- Adam Thomson: Yes it's only his second year on the list, but he simply doesn't seem to have enough tools to make the grade. An inside mid with average speed and kicking skills. Foley, Cotchin, Jackson, Tuck and Martin are all miles ahead of him.

- Tim Hislop: I believe he has an injury and won't play again for 2010, believe it or not but I reckon this might help his chances, ie Pettifer a couple of years ago. Personally I like him, but he doesn't really have a role in the side.

- Ben Cousins: Yes he still offers alot, but I think its his time to move on.

- Dean Polo: Personally I think he has been a bit unlucky because I think he still has a bit to offer, however he seems a bit on the outer.

Of the Rookies:
- Graham Polak: I think its time to bow out gracefully. Doesn't have a role in our best 22.

- Relton Roberts: This may disappoint a few, but he will be 25 next year I think its fair enough to say he hasn't come on as much as people would have hoped.

Whats everyone else's opinions?

Are you saying we should get rid of a player who has been on the list for what? 9 months?

Yep...totally agree..all 7 of those should go.

I'd also, depending on current contracts, look to be trying to get picks off someone (GCFC??) for McGuane and White. Jake King if he accepts a one year deal could be kept or involved in a player swap for a defender.

Jake King has improved quite a bit the past 2-3weeks. Looks like the new coaching team has brought out the best out of him. Maybe he will be worthing keeping for another year...(i cant believe I am saying that lol)

Add Mitch Morton to that list, although i'd probably trade him if we could get something. Morton has just gone backwards in terms of development and is not a part of our future.

Barely halfway through the year????? We're over half way through the year.

What's Relton Roberts age got to do with it???? Podsiadily is nearly 30 I think.

That is something we can agree on. Trade bait for sure.

Jake King has just consolidated his position in the departure lounge I would have thought.

I know it sounds harsh but one could add White to that list along with McMahon and from what I have read secondhand with Relton in terms of fitness progression he may well see the door as well

This week I am a bit more hopeful on Farmer and to a lesser extent Nanos but for me the jury is still out on them

I enjoy watching King because he is a club footballer playing AFL.

All his endeavour comes unstuck because of his lack of skill and football brain.

Still diving on a contest and reeling the ball in to give away a free kick. How long has that law been in?

But once we get serious about a year then its time to move on. Ill wish him well though.

are people debating McMahon? He would have been told already to start investigating all options for next year.

Too many mixed reports about Cousins to be able to make a decision from the outside. Team leader, introvert, which one is it???

What about Nahas? In and out of the team. Im sure we could get a good pick for him if we where going to trade him.

Not sure Nahas can play every week. His body takes such a beating, sometimes he looks like a rag doll the way he gets thrown to the ground. He must be very sore after games.

Absolutely Not.. He is the sort of player we need in our forward line

He needs to be more consistent. We cant have someone that fires every 3rd week. He is one of the best forwards when he gets going but he needs to do it alot more. Also he needs to kick atleast 1 goal a game. with the odd bag.

If we're being ruthless (delisting a shitload more players again which is necessary) we should also add King and White to that list. People shouldn't be fooled by a couple okay or decent games against mediocre opposition in their contract year. Both have played around 50 games which is enough to show us neither are good enough to take us forward.

Not sure if Morton will be going anywhere. I just read Hardwick's press conference and he still believes Morton has a lot to offer in the forward line.

10-goal Riewoldt holds all the aces Michael Horan From: Herald Sun June 13, 2010 1:22PM

......I don't think (he can kick 10 every week), and for the Richmond footy club going forward, we hope not. We want a spread of goals," Hardwick said.

"We have (Ben) Griffiths who we think will be a good player. Troy Taylor and Mitch Morton will float through there as well.
"We have got some avenues up forward, and it's going to be exciting when those players all come and play together.

Hardwick praised Riewoldt's "uncanny ability to use his body".......

Collingwood consistently make the 8 with a forward who fires every 3rd week so hopefully we can too.

Don't get me wrong i wish the Mitch of old would come back and get even better with more work ethic but unfortunately i feel he's lost confidence and is declining in ability. Maybe he's worth one more season but if we can get good value maybe we should trade for a pick. The main problem i think he will face is he is competing with taylor, griffiths, astbury for a spot because he can't be considered a running small forward because he is too unfit and doesn't have the work ethic.

It seems like the coaching staff have faith in Morton. We are half way through the season so maybe the next month Morton will slowly begin to play better and build his confidence.

I would like to see him back in the side. If he listens to the coaches and is willing to work hard then he could turn it around like a Tuck and even King.

From the main list:

McMahon, Hislop, Thomson, King, White, Polo, Cousins all have their heads laid out on the chopping block. And yes, before people tell me King and White have been going alright, I know - but we need better than alright. We need every draft pick we can get at this point. We should also try and trade for King, White, Tuck, Polo, Nahas, and one of Thursfield/McGuane/Moore.

From the rookie list:

Polak, Gilligan, Gourdis (promoted), and Westhoff.

Sad thing is Morton has twice as much talent as these 2 put together. But your right, Hardwick needs to keep him at Coburg for as long as it takes until he plays as hard as the two you mention here. At his best, he makes these two look like VFL players. Big difference in 'turning it around' compared to the other 2 though. Tuck just needed to be told to handball at all costs. And the other turnover king, King, needed to be reminded he doesn't, and never will have it seems, have the skill to hit up a player when under pressure, so don't try it.....today his FUps caused minimal damage.

Keep Morton/Tuck....Bye Jake!

I think we need to open up another 8-9 spots on the list this year.
Therefore:
- Simmonds retired
- McMahon is gone, lets see if we get any offers or just plain delist.
- Thomson, inside mid, which we have in abundance. Jackson, Martin, Tuck are all ahead. No spot in the side for him - potential trade (aka upgrade pick 40 to 36, and give Thomson)
- Roberts (I'm sure he would have KPI's that he needs to reach and goals in fitness, might cut our losses)
- Polak (Potential trade, however, I can't see him on our list again next year - not part of the future).
- Tuck (Now! Don't shoot me down! Tuck was pretty much put on the open market last year with no bites. At the start of 2011 he will be 29 and definately not part of our future, surely his value has gone up and we could get a 3rd rounder for him or upgrade of picks. We need to be ruthless.)
- Then there is another 2-3 we need to either delist or try and trade..
