Not sure it's really that amazing. It's very good and something we can only dream of here but I'm not blown away.

Australian fans have had the chance to see most of those major headline bands that have been touring over the past couple of years except The Postal Service off the top of my head.

Yes we can't see them at one big festival but you can't expect to where we are in the world but if you're willing to spend the extra money to see them as they tour sometimes we can be at an advantage to see these bands in a smaller setting.

It's a great lineup. Australia is in the wrong spot geographically to ever match anything like this, so I don't really feel any shame.

That said, aside from NIN & QOTSA, most of the headliners do nothing for me, but there are a few gems further down the list.

Yeah im sorry Australia's adult contempary rock bands are not as good as America's, Sorry!

Shit line-up BTW, While a few good bands on it, 360 Suck way more then Qotsa/NIN/Steve Aoki/Major lazor rock, So technically if you look at it its in the red.

People have these misconceptions about these sort of festivals.

The crowds are ENORMOUS. You might be able to see one or two of these bands ridiculously far away and miss a heap of others in the process.

Would rather go see a heap of smaller (but often better acts) when they are scheduled to play at the various pubs and clubs about the place. More intimate setting, closer to the band, plus easier access to bevo's.

Yeah man, I have a few friends in America, Europe, and England. They reckon they're great fun, but you always miss half the bands you want to see. And such is the culture in Europe and the UK, the band go 'til 4am, you're too pissed, and you miss most of the afternoons through hangovers.

Considering the price of travel, insurance, the exhaustion, and the gigs it rules out (you could do ten shows everywhere else for more income in the same time in other times), Australia gets some really good gigs.

Looks about as boring as any big day out of the last 5 years
I don't think it's a boring lineup at all. But Lolla and BDO have share promoters and have some other links.

A few highlights and a whole lotta shit.

That's what I think too to be honest (I'm more of a metal fan though). And I'd stack up Soundwave from 2012 against pretty much most overseas festivals (Download included) for quality. Remember most OS festys are over a few days so for one day that Soundwave was pretty ****en epic, the only issue was all of the clashes.
