Roast Long term contracts gone bad

Parish is Essendon's worst but the numbers are inconsequential at the moment as our list is just so far away from actually requiring the 95% of the cap that the rules make teams spend. I can see us looking to take on some of the "bad" contracts from other teams just to reach the cap floor.

Is Parish injured or he hasn’t been able to get a game all year?

Don't agree on Kelly. They're a bottom side so need to fill the salary floor somehow.

3rd/4th string providing 3rd/4th string mid performances signed to 2030... There's the answer.
Stars get 5+ years. Not your soldier types.
And that's anbother shit rule that need to be dispensed with too.

Why should clubs with crudhole lists have to pay the minimum 92.5 of the cap anyway ??

Taranto & Hopper on $1m P.A each for 7 years is pretty bad.
Taranto will likely be a 2-time BnF winner this year and is having easily the highest rated season of his career. Couldn't have done much more? Hopper has finally got his body right and is probably on the podium in the bnf with Vlastuin.

They are both in our best few every week. We obviously got them across to try pinch another flag, which hasn't worked, but imagine just how bad we'd be without them. It's not like they've stopped us bringing youth in for the rebuild, which they will be crucial in guiding the kids through. We are lucky to have them given the path we've headed down, even if not by design.

The money is irrelevant as we'll struggle to reach the cap floor as it is.

Personally think Nick Vlastuin will win our B&F or should but Taranto & Hopper shouldn't be too far behind.

Adam Treloar's Collingwood contract was a howler. Had to push him out the door and pay 1/3 of his wage.

If Young misses a lot of football over the next 6 years how is that not the very point of this thread?

Of course it may just be a one-off thing, but is speculation not allowed?
"Long term contracts gone bad" has nothing to do with your crystal ball. If you want to start a thread "Contract that could potentially go bad" - go for it. I dare say Hayden Young would even be in the first two names mentioned though.

parish Calf, calf, calf and took it slowly, sought independent advice given how poor efc handled it.
Ridley hammy & quad
Langford - hammy and quad

all dissapointing for experienced players on top of the injuries that are just bad luck
Bryan, Edwards, Hayes, Martin all ACL
Jones - his foot/ankle injury was pretty horrific out for year
Draper - achilles just went when asked to be sole ruck after Bryans injury.
Cox never got going from concussion at training, played like 1 or 2 VFL matches
Zach Reid - hammy made of tissue paper
McKay and Setterfield both p[icking up foot injurys that were season ending

Remember when they gave an absolutely cooked Dan Hannebery an $800k/pa 5 year deal to leave Sydney who were like 'ok bye!' and took a token pick upgrade trade to send him on his way - at the time a 27 year old, 3 Time All Australian.

Dan never got rolling at the Saints, which every man and his dog could have told you before he signed that deal - luckily it was a 4 years guaranteed with a trigger for the 5th (which he didn't reach, obviously) but he ended up playing 18 games over 4 years at the Saints - a run of 5, 8, 2 and 3 games - working out $178,000 per game.

That was the gold standard of terrible contracts (before we got into this 6 year+ craziness).

It never got the love it deserved because everyone forgot he existed by the end.
Just Xavier dudes looking after each other

I don't want to parrot Kane Cornes but here we are.

Seems like there are a few long term contracts that have gone sour..

I'll make a start but please feel free to add suggestions and I'll update the OP.

1. Clayton Oliver > 2030
2. Noah Balta > 2032
3. Luke Davies Uniacke > 2032
4. Tim Kelly > 2027
5. Bradley Hill > 2027
6. Blake Acres > 2027
7. Adam Cerra > 2030
8. Max King > 2032

Which Brad Hill contact is he talking about though ?.

The initial one or the three year extension once that had expired ?.
