you started a new thread for this shit... post it one of the exisiting threads... howver taking advice from a bulldogs supporter on how to cope with a loss is probably the best advice you can get... that and advice on how to cope with a grandfinal loss from a collingwood supporter

So very true , port last year are a good example of that . Still love the blues no less , very frustrated though .

Instead of writing an article this week, I decided on writing a personal piece on the night. It's more of a depressed ramble, but bare with me. I must remind you that I wrote this piece late at night, was pretty upset and yeah.

"Oh we're from Tiger Land," words that rang out at the MCG, before the game had come to a conclussion. Looking on from my usual spot, the best I could do way drop my face into my arms, cover Eddie Bear's eyes and slowly come to realise that we had lost against the Tigers. All week, I knew that the Tigers were going to leave the victors, but reality really slapped me in the face at the 27 minute mark of the final quarter. To think that only just one half and a bit of football ago, we were controlling the game, leading by 20+ points. Now, here we are, down by 24 with no chance of getting back into the contest.

Defeated, I listened to the Richmond Football Club song boom around the MCG, occassionally breaking tune for the "yellow and black" screams from the Richmond faithful.

I looked on at some idiot running onto the ground, playing to the crowd before being tackled and arreasted as I made my way over to the Punt Road end goals. It was almost heart breaking hearing the cries around me of "We've won!", "the Tigers are back" and of course, the occasional "We've going to be premiers!" shout. With Eddie Bear in arms, I sat looking at the Melbourne Cricket Ground for a good 15-20 minutes, on the brink of tears. The occassional Carlton/Richmond fan would come up to me for comfort, but I don't think I was in any shape to speak. That's when it hit me.

That one moment symbolised the last 5 years at Carlton, that very feeling. I felt hallow, defeated, and of course, cheated. Question, a thousand questions and statements I asked about and told myself about what I had witnessed. 'How can you call that?', 'If you kick the ball into the man on the mark, that's play on, not 50 metres.'

It took me until the security kindly asked me to leave to realise 'hang on, this is round one, why am I so upset?'. As a Carlton supporter, all I have is to remain positive, and hope that a hint of luck comes our way.

For the remainder of the night, after I had whipped the thin tears from my eyes (no, I wasn't crying, on the brink I tells ya!), I completed my lap of the oval (something I do after every game, a real personal meaning thing) before meeting up with my friends, copping a bit of sh*t, laughing it off and heading home for a quiet one before bed.

Yes Eb , I think many of us will be feeling the same way . As Blue Dawn said he felt gutted , ALL blues fans will as we hate losing to the tiges . Especially dishing up what we did . Chin up my boy , as the old cliche goes , there's always next week .

True, it's still heart breaking to realise thae we've gone down. It's round one though, plenty of football to play still.

I'd pay for you not to have been there brother, it was the most secluded and worn out I had ever felt! I wouldn't want to off load that feeling to your good self, brother.

Kangaroos lost there first 3 games last year, and were wooden spoon favourites.

They made the top 4.

You're not wrong, but at the moment I think Carlton fans probably feel as though we're done, so early in the year. I know that it's far from the case, but I just feel mentally and emotionally drained.

No EddieB- I don't think we are writing off the year yet. Just dealing with the the loss itself. It is hopefully a wake a call only and we realise the areas that need to be reinforced. Rome wasn't built in a day but the foundations must be solid.

I'm not saying that we are, I just at the moment feel as helpless as a fly in honey. I sure hope to god that this was a waking call to all Carlton supporters, it sure has opened my eyes!
