Largely true, but you haven't really taken into account where that depth is.
We have depth in the middle, we don't at the ends. It's not that I disagree with you on Lower's value as a player, it's just that we have the midfield nicely covered but if our backs or forwards go down, we don't. And, I have a feeling, that's one reason JA is being given another chance, or so it would appear. He does something Lower doesn't.

No point in having depth if half your list are midfielders, and another quarter of them flankers. I don't like it either but the logic is there.

Any chance that it may be a strategic delist, so that another team in desperate need of a tough inside mid (and a KPP) will take Lower before our pick in the PSD, rather than a KPP prospect that we're desperate to get our mits on?

Couldn't agree more, since Lyon arrived this club has been in serious decline. Don't know about you but I found the end of our season very demoralising and I see little hope for the future of the FFC.

To be honest I'm not sure why most of you are so upset with his delistment.... Someone else mentioned it but go and write down your best 22 players, I would be very surprised if lower made any of your sides. He was good in an injury plagued weak Fremantle midfield, he is slow, skills are not great with the only positive being his tackling.

Lower is worse than a depth player, he has quite a number of guys in front of him such as Suban, Mellington, Danyle Pearce, Morabito, Sheridan, Crozier, Neale, Sutcliffe as well as guys in the current 22 like Clancee Pearce and Mzungu. Imagine being the match committee and fitting all of these guys into the 22 each week.

IMO a great decision by FFC but looks like I'm in the minority that think so.

Ahe only way I can think of it that makes sense is he's behind a long list of mids and up and comers.
(Mundy, Barlow, Fyfe, Crowley, Hill, Morabito, Pearced, Pearcec, Neale, Sheridan, Suttcliffe) while we don't have many tall(ish) defenders in the shed which is why Anthony and Faulk-me survived.

It doesn't make sense to delist someone contracted that can offer you something next year. Especially when they might get picked up by another club before we get the chance to rookie. What difference would it make delisting JA or Faulks? Surely no one will pick either of them up in the Rookie draft.

Lower is a handy inside player. Gets big clearence numbers and is a tackling machine.

IMO the only comparison is that they are both slow. Clancee offers way more "metres" per possession than Lower due to his kicking ability. That is the overall problem with Lower at the top level - he just doesn't have enough damage factor.
