In all the ugly aftermath of the weekend, one little story you may like.
In the lead up to the grand final I told my 7 year old daughter that should Cats win I would get her a Geelong jumper - this time with the hoops. Last year in her first year of supporting the club we had bought her an away jumper as they had sold out of the home strip.
She was devastated when we lost - I thought perhaps more so because it meant she was now going to miss out on the jumper.
Later I asked her - that if she wanted, she could abandon the cats and become a Hawks supporter - in which case we would go down straight away to Southland and buy her a Hawks jumper.
In a great response, her face crumpled up as if she was going to cry and said she only wanted to barrack for the cats.
I gave her a big hug. It was the right answer.
