I am looking for a second car, just a little shit box for the 15 minute drive to and from work each day, but I have seen a second hand 6 cylinder car that is LPG. I have no experience here, what I want to know is the overall running costs of LPG cars, is a 6 cylinder LPG going to cost more or less to run than a 4 cylinder on petrol?:)

I would say less or sameish (at a guess),there are a few variables. .
I have had 2 LPG cars before, cost virtually nothing to run.
If its a good conversion, cars in good shape and you need the extra size I would go LPG

I have a BA XR6 which is on LPG. I travel 100kms/weekday and i can tell you that it is definitely worth it! Costs me about $40-$45/week. If I used unleaded i think it would cost me about $60-$70

I have a 6 cylinder on lpg and i can get about 400kms out of a full tank, my gas bottle holds about 60 litres worth, so it cost around 35$ a tank.:thumbsu:

I love my lpg :)

Got it converted not so long ago with a vapour injection setup, it does cost more than the usual but theres no power loss. From my first tank I got 415kms but it's meant to improve overtime.

But yeah if it's been install well and not cheaply done then you'll have no issues!

Mixer - old version of LPG. Can't switch on/off whenever you want.
Vapour - current(ish) version of LPG. Can switch on/off whenever you want and has around equal to power/performance to petrol with slightly more fuel consumption.
Liquid - current(ish)/future version of LPG. Same as vapour but better or equal performance of petrol/fuel consumption.

I've found it's worth it. Paid it off really quickly. Costs me around $25 a week for around 300k's in inner city driving on a BA Falcon.

I haven't had any problems with my LPG. Runs fantastically mainly due to the installer and quality of the system. 75% of the time I run on propane though which I find is just that bit better quality gas.

I'm suprised more people haven't gone to LPG considering the rebate and how available it is. Yet, when fuel was $1.50+ per litre they're all having a bit sook.

Good post! pretty much somes up the different systems you can get!

What kind do you have installed, I'm curious :p

Good to know you went vapour rather than a mixer system.

I've got the Emer branded system which is also vapour :)
