shared a lane with the dynamo rover down at harold hot pool last saturday arvo. looked in pretty good shape and was doing a lot a leg work with his swimming, presumable to do with strenghening his groin for this year. was just wondering how u guys reckon he'll go...?? and if he's meant to be over his OP, did he have an operation post season??
personally i hope he rips the league apart this year...have always thought he would be one of the nicer blokes in the afl currently...and proved it the other day, was polite to everyone, chatting to anyone, and even explaining to an older lady why he was resting after each lap...etc..top bloke.
good luck in '08 Luke
:thumbsu:

Yeah he had an operation, the same surgeon as Judd, I think it was an abductor release which would ease the strain on the groin, from all reports he is going great and will be back to full fitness in '08, however we've heard that a couple years in a row now, so take it for what it's worth...

Unfortunley, thats the truth. I will beleive it when i see it. Lets hope for all St.kilda supporters that ball will get back to his best form. His 31 possession and 3 goals game against the second Hawthorn 2007 match was stunning.

Can you imagine him if he was fully fit that match, if he could shake off the OP he would be performing like that a hell of a lot more, he would be brownlow material...

Ball stands down as St Kilda co-captain
February 7, 2008 - 2:18PM

Midfielder Luke Ball has stood down as a St Kilda AFL co-captain for 2008.

Ball, who has battled fitness problems in recent seasons, shared the captaincy with Nick Riewoldt and Lenny Hayes in 2007.

This was a tough decision for me after two fantastic years in the co-captaincy position," he said.

"My fitness levels and the quality of my game are paramount to ensure I can add maximum value to the team.

"I'm going to concentrate on getting my body right and re-establishing myself as a valued member of the Saints' midfield."

Ball, 23, played 18 of St Kilda's 22 games last year.

The club will announce its 2008 leadership team in the coming weeks.

The fact he did that is the sign of a leader.

In the captaincy thread many of us felt that would be the right thing for him to do but when you're a co-captain of the club and a proud person it must have been a hard decision for him.

I'm sure he'll be retained in our leadership group and provided he can get his body right he'll get another opportunity down the track.
