Sure Ball is playing well, but i am really missing the assets we gave to St. Kilda for him, a bit stuffy in the coaching box from what i can tell, those O2 molecules would have been useful tonight.

Good to hear. The guy is just so willing to sacrifice himself for the team. It's a pity for the Saints, but a blessing for us that Malthouse saw all his strengths as a player and decided we would play to them. Whereas Ross Lyon seemed to just focus on his weaknesses and demand that he played in a manner that he was not suited.

Totally agree. Ross demanded of him a type of game he couldn't play, and I think probably tried too much make him as good as Lenny Hayes in the in-and-under roll, which he never was going to be. Prefer to see him playing good footy at the Pies than playing great footy at Sandringham, so I think it all worked out.

I thought he has been good all year, but he's been sensational the last 2 weeks. Thought last nite was his best game was his best game of the year.
Tackling, clearance work and his in and under work has been brilliant. Here's to many more games like it.

i thought his best game was against St Kilda actually but anyway that is3 games now where he has been close to ur best. St Kilda must be furious :D

What an absolute GUN...I reckon he'd be top 3 in our best and fairest at this point.

And can someone TOAST O'Bree...solid return match and worked hard all game. I can't post threads yet unfortunately or I would.

I think this has been well and truly over due with the hard work that Ball has been doing for this football club.
I've always felt that Luke Ball was going to be a critical inclusion to Collingwood and that St.Kilda were going to miss terribly. So far so good.
It is now debatable which one of Luke Ball or Darren Jolly were the better pick up, something probably un thought of pre season.:thumbsu:
Ball has settled in slightly quicker, but both players have improved the team for different reasons.

Simply brilliant from Bally.

In addition to the "Luke Ball appreciation week" coming up for his 150th, we should extend another thank you and card to Rossy Lyon this week too.

Sensational tonight. Gives our midfield what it's been lacking for some time, as does Jolly. Suddenly we're dominating stoppages, and the scoreboard is showing it. Keep it up Luke. :thumbsu:

Agree - That was the main reason in 02-03 we went to 2 Straight GF

I really don't think the Saints miss him at all. He was a fringe player in the end at St Kilda, he'll be much higher in the ranks in your midfield.

Lol what? You got rid of him for the supposed midfield grunt of Armitage. He is now no longer in your best 22. You drop one, to replace him with another, who can't get a game. :thumbsu:

And p*ss off about our midfield ranks. Your midfield class stops at Montagna. It's Hayes, Dal Santo and Montagna. Clint Jones is a decent tagger at best, and beyond that, its slim pickings.

You forget that Ball played his share for Sandringham last year. Perfectly happy with a 20 game player with room for improvement over a someone who never recovered from OP and can barely kick it 40.

Kicked it 40 metres longer than the great hope Armitage will for you this weekend. I find it hilarious that the great white hope "we don't need ball we've got armitage" can't get a game.

looks to me like he has recovered from op, maybe that has something to do with our doctors being much better than yours, and maybe that has something to do with us having more money than your little irrelevent tin pot football club :D

his kicking has been quite good the past few weeks.

might be the lack of quality we are playing against but he seems to have sharpened up a lot.

anyway, regardless of his kicking he is the most fierce competitor I have seen since Scott Burns and Glenn Archer.

Bally is somewhat outspoken from what I can gather so I dare say he pissed someone off to get booted.

Shows that you are basing your comments on "NOT" having watched him play this year or you are just full of shit.

Ball is playing excellent footy exactly as we require.

If he was still wearing that rag you call a jumper you'd be first in line to lick his feet the way the rest of your side is playing sans Reiwoldt.

Cop that TommyJay you muppet. Who cares if Bally can't kick 40 metres when he gets it 30 times a

He hasn't got it 30 times in a game once this season.

We feel like we can afford to drop our equal highest goalscorer last week, who got 10% of our tackles? I fail to see how that's a downside, I'd like to see Collingwood do that...

If you'd read any earlier in this thread you will notice that I say I love Ball, and love to see that he's playing great footy, even though it's not with my club.
