From baggygreen.com:

"Luke Ronchi entered the record-books with Australia's fastest domestic one-day century as Western Australia humiliated New South Wales at Perth. Ronchi's 56-ball hundred eclipsed the previous quickest, the 62-delivery effort by his team-mate Adam Voges two seasons ago."

Future Australian keeper?

Needs to get more consistent. Almost every games he gets 20 off 14 then gets out

In news just a hand, Ronchi has opened his eyes for the first time today. Fluke.

Paine >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Ronchi

Paine >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Ronchi

when was the last time Paine made a decent score?

Hartley is ahead of both

Paine > Haddin (youth policy thing) >>>>>>> Ronchi, Hartley

Paine will be the Australian Test keeper in the future, Ronchi will be the ODI keeper in the future.

Haddin will do both for some time after Gilchrist retires.

Keepers play a big role in being leaders. I think it's important for us to have the same keeper in both forms.

Tests= Paine >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Ronchi
OD= About equal. Ronchi is a bigger hitter, Paine more reliable and better with gloves.

Paine has lost form with the bat since he became keeper. He is yet to prove that he can both bat well and keep in the same match

Paine shouldn't be opening and keeping.

Play him as a batsman and if hes keeping bat him at 6-7

Not just australian, but the fastest ever domestic century according to article at sportal.
:thumbsu:

Luke Ronchi has stolen the show with the fastest ever domestic one-day century to finish Western Australia's Ford Ranger Cup season with a bang and massive win over New South Wales at the WACA ground.

On the back of Ronchi's 56-ball century, the Warriors cruised to their target of 210, losing only two wickets and with 19.5 overs still remaining. The win moves WA to third spot on the Ford Ranger Cup table, as they now look to secure a spot in the Pura Cup final.

Despite being dropped at first slip by Dominic Thornely off the bowling of Doug Bollinger when he was 78, Ronchi rocketed his way past team-mate Adam Voges' 62 ball century against New South Wales in the 2004-05 season.

Ronchi was on fire as soon as he arrived at the crease and the inexperienced bowling of Moises Henriques and Dan Christian were treated particularly harshly. Henriques went for 29 from his three overs, while Christian was hit for 21 in his first over.

Edit: Sorry Sam_The_King....didn't see your post. I'm pretty much repeating what you said.

having not seen him play i don't know much about ronchi, but he has a 1st class batting average of 40... not too bad for a keeper, and would suggest he could be a future test player...

Paine sure is overrated....

He has bucketfuls of talent, but people are pretending he's ready to step up into international colours straight away.

He is the future Australian Keeper, in Tests anyway. But Haddin will probably do it for a good six years. By then Tim will be ready to rock.

Look, at the end of the day who keeps next for Australia is a lottery for us punters.

Remember Healy had only played less than 10 games for Queensland when he debuted for Australia, so experience and batting average counted for squat back then.

Good thing Ronchi isn't Victorian- we'd have numerous threads about how he is a certainty for the World Cup and how the selectors are biased against him for making him stay in the domestic comp....

We have several good young keepers coming along ATM- will be fun to see the timing on Gilly's retirement/axing- remember Heals was dumped unceremoniously for Gilly a decade ago....could it happen again?
