Luke Shuey's ducking

Oh for **** sake, he got taken legitimately high every time tonight. Just because he gets tackled high doesn't mean he ducked.

BWahahahahahahaha

To the OP. DO NOT put this weasel in the same basket with any of the Selwoods. They are bona fide hard ball getters and are tough as nails, especially Joel and Scott.

I haven't bothered to post much in these threads but are people just dumb? Its a win/win situation what he does. He either shrugs the tackle or gets done high if he fails. He isn't the only one to do it. Time to get over it.

He is the standout, worst at creatign high contact in the league. Streets ahead of anyone else.

It's not time to get over it. It's time to stop giving him free kicks.

I'm sorry, but if you think Shuey isn't a hardball getter or tough, then you need to watch more football or close your herpes ridden mouth.

God he was good tonight.

Heath Shaw nearly ignored a free paid to Shuey tonight at one point,
you can tell the players don't like what he is about.

Nothing will be done about it, even if it should.
Players will just have to tackle Shuey below the hips.

Yeah, Shuey doesn't get too many hardballs, but thats what Priddis is for.
Priddis had 20 odd handballs tonight, frees up the Shuey's and Gaff's.

I agree Shuey is soft, but he is near elite and is going to be some player.

He will still find a way.

If you can get the replays and show me which of his high frees he did not in fact get him above the shoulder then I will eat my hat.

So thats the way to solve all this? Stop giving him frees. So does this mean that they stop paying the frees to everyone that uses the technique or just Shuey for a while? What if he gets legitimately taken high? Don't pay it because he is a known shoulder shrugger? So separate rules for different players? How long do they stop paying him frees? How long does another player that uses the same technique get to go on getting free kicks for before they also get cut off?

There has been a whole thread on this topic that just went around in circles with people complaining but with no real answer to resolve it other than for the players to change the way they tackle. The umpires shouldn't make different rules for different players.

The players will adapt to the technique and tackle differently. It's just another small change to the game. So yes, it is time to get over it.

He got 6 free kicks in tonights game. Twice as much as the next player on three. It's his first instinct do duck when he is under pressure. Other players do it aswell but to nowhere near the same degree and it's just wrong how he gets rewarded for it. He's the complete opposite to Daniel Kerr who I actually respect (on field).

U mad West Coast are coming back into form when we'll probably play you in an elimination final? Yeah, u mad.

How about common sense? I mean it's quite blatant when he does it so just call play on. If it's a legitimate free fine pay the free. No need for rule change just a little common sense. It will happen he will only get away with it for so long before they catch on.

If you actually watch the game you would have noticed half a dozen head high tackles from both teams not get called, thought the umps did a pretty good job on it today. All Shuey's were there. Also noticed it's been creeping into Andrew swallows game a little it over the last few weeks..

Um...no. That would be a good result as we get a home final after recently thrashing you in a derby. I just don't like watching players who first instinct is to play for a free kick instead of playing the game the way it should be played. He is 2nd in the comp for free kicks after Cox and considering his relatively low contested possession count he shouldn't be that high. He needs to dial it back a bit

Could you tell me which ones you wouldn't pay from tonight then? He doesn't drop the knees as often as what most people here believe. He lifts his arm and it slips the tackle high. It's all in one movement as the tackle hits so i'm sure for the umpire in the heat of the action it would be fairly hard to tell he has done it.

There has to be a line between what is legitimate and what isn't. You can't expect the umpire to tell if a tackle has just naturally slipped high or if it was forced high when there tackle after tackle being layed in a highly contested game.

Yes i agree a few were legitimate, but it's not just tonight mate.

And please spare me bloke, Swallow actually attacks the ball hard that's why he gets his head highs. Look it's his choice and while he ain't getting caught I guess it's fair game but it ain't a great look.
