Toast Luke Thompson

What about when we play someone like Collingwood? Talia will go to Cloke and is L.Thompson supposed to take the resting ruckman because again he would be giving away a lot of weight. I just don't see him being able to play as KPD.
Given Laird managed to spoil Witts earlier in the year, not too worried about Witts running forward myself :p

It's a valid point though, but the way I see it is if they've got a ruck at full forward, Cloke might push up a little more in which the change could be made. I haven't seen enough of Thompson to have a say, but as long as he can beat a forward on a lead then we should be able to make it work between him and Talia.

Will know more about his capabilities over the next few weeks if he can hold his spot in the side.

Edit: Also, I'm surprised at how little love Otten gets. He came into the side and look great straight up for us this year. He doesn't give us any run but defensively, he does everything extremely well imo.

Thought Otten was pretty good on Westhoff. Crunched him with a couple of huge tackles, and really put him off his game. Westhoff, when he's not too busy being the second biggest whinger in the league after Boomer Harvey, is very capable of playing huge games, and he has been known to play well against us. Otten did well.

His rebound is balls, but he's usually at least tidier than 'elite leg' Brent Reilly.

Well Thompson absolutely smashed Shaw in the 20m time trial sprints we held int he pre-season and is one of the fastest at our club as a matter of fact.

What makes you say he can't kick either? Done nothing to suggest this at all and has shown neat kicking skills so far. Nothing spectacular, but nothing bad either. Definitely not at Shaw's level....
I don't know what makes me say it. It is the impression I get watching him play.

I haven't seen him go fast, or kick well.

Maybe cos he runs a bit like a chicken?

Like I said, I'd give him more goes at it. I've seen him play like, twice, and then he hasn't had much of it while being ok.

I agree Otten has been fantastic. He certainly has the potential to increase his rebound based on his form pre-ACL. Genuinely good player who is extremely under appreciated on here.

To those who don't rate Otten (particularly his tackling): watch 0:35, 0:41, 0:50 and 1:00

Can't believe that after one good game from LT, you've forgOTTEN all about him (excuse the terrible pun).

Never really understood why he didn't get a chance last year after his 2012 Finals form. Played a few poor games early on in his career but has been pretty reliable since then. He's one of those guys I'd like to see holding down a solid spot.

Had a terrible preseason after that with injury, and his (ankle?) issues continued throughout the year. Would likely have played in 2013 without that.

Otten laid a couple good tackles on the weekend but i could find 40 he's missed over the years with poor effort/upper body weakness.

He and Jenkins go to the same tackle school. Sadly Lyons a little similar in this area (even though i reckon he was brilliant v Port)

Known luke since he was a kid,
Played chb/chf in the senoirs at 15 yo.
Great kick of the footy.
Very well liked{and not a backdoorsman} among his teamates.
Has been hoping to continue his career at crows, but is a bit disappointed at being a sanfl player for 3 years.
Definitely a no nonsense never give up type.
Hope your supporters do support him before he gets invites from other clubs.

I just hope they make a decision on him and not leave him limbo for another season or two.

Loved his game on the weekend. Certainly made things interesting. His pace on the lead is better than Otten which I think is said players biggest weakness at the moment, other than his slow loopy kicks which give me a heart attack every time he gets the ball. Strong case for Luke going ahead of Otto.

Shattered that it is over for the Truck at the end of the season, yet the swings and roundabouts of footy show there is hope for when he is gone.

IMO, Talia is our FB, Otten can be our CHB while we develop Hartigan to play third tall against larger lineups, and Thompson when the third opposition tall is pacier and more athletic (eg. Westhoff, Goodes, Mayne, Spangher/Breust).

Always like how LT played and think he can definitely have a future with us.
