I never could have imagined a woman in the Beatles world could be more disliked then Yoko...then this horror came along and made Yoko look like an angel.

she was and is just a nasty, ****ty piece of shit with no redeeming qualities.

fair enough if it was a movie star but 1/2 of the surviving beatles?????? how could you do it? I don't know.

still, as the book so succinctly states Macca was ruled by little macca at the time. :(

yeah its good so far.
there is alot of music talk..but of course its all involved with whats going on in his life at the time.

he is a pretty ruthless/driven character

from macca board..

Paul tried to come here in 2002, he had two nights booked in Melbourne, the prices were around $500.00 to sit down on the field, Aussies arent really used to paying that for a rock concert, so he couldn't sell out one night let alone, two, the ticket sales were dire, he .. or MPL pulled out citing the recent Bali bombings and that it wouldn't be respectful to play here, even tho Bali in not part of Australia, the fans and media saw through this reason and he was ridiculed, mocked and pilloried at the time, it was a shameful act using that as an excuse when it was really a matter of pride and economics. Strange and and unanswerable and insulting fact, Paul played in Madrid only a couple of weeks after the Madrid bombing .. care to answer that one Paul?.

I hope he does come back down here, all is pretty much forgiven, at least with the big fans, but i'm curious about the memory's of the general public who were stung with lost airfares and accomodation, the bigger questions is, can Paul's pride and ego let him try to come back here? and risk having the media throw all this back in his face.

lol
this is ****ed if its true
Half a grand for a show:eek: in 2002!!!
what would he charge now $750:thumbsd:

i would pay $250 max for a front and centre pos..
this is a guy who never ever brings any sort of strings on tour to ''save money''

bad macca!

2002 was a huge embarrassment and dissapointment. He owes his Aussie fans something special should he include Australia in his next world trek. It's been a long time since 1993. His show is worth every cent but charging such a price isn't fair, especially if you only want to play at one city.

The annual Macca in talks with promoters reports, one day it will eventuate, the man has still has endurance for 3 hour shows so no worries with age even if it's more than a year away.

Really excited by the prospect of getting Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers over here, not since backing Dylan in 1986 have they played downunder. Ain't many finer rock bands who know music quite like the Heartbreakers.

Foo Fighters in November would be more likely to eventuate, all three come to play and I'd be a very happy man.

yeah foos a given cause of their relationship with australia
real shame petty has snubbed oz all these years. i can see that muther****er playing kings park

did you see what tom petty wants in another article? private jets etc.

I like tom petty, but is he worth some of his demands? and eminem wanting 1.5 million/show is a crock.

no
bring up the article

if so thats just sad
he needs to follow the likes of costello, weller. these guys seem more grounded and in touch with reality. i mean i like petty's music but he aint all that

tried to find article :o - its a longer version of the Nui te koha article i am sure. Essentially, the demands made by petty (which probably arent worse than other bands) are said to be putting off the promoters from taking up his tour window, specifically its the private jet that they like to fly in. Sort of like elton john on his last oz tour - set up in one spot (eg melbourne) and then jet to a concert in sydney and jet back the same day. That is the main sticking point as i recall.
which is disappointing, but thats what theyre used to.

interesting.

i dont buy the 'thats what they are used to' approach.

times have changed. and for a group like them..they still kill it in the usa but over the last sorta 10-15 years they have had moderate popularity here. im sure alot of that has got to do with them sticking to the usual american tour plane (playing it safe)

i like groups who just suck up their pride and do smaller venue tours of countries they are not so big in. It gains respect. Then next time..they can step it up a little.

I think every 7 or so years bands need to start fresh and sumarise where they are at in a realistic way. It's not the 70's or 80's anymore.People obtain so much more music.Tours happen alot more often. People don't get totally obsessed with one singular artist..so if you dont move with the times you will loose your audience

That's the issue with petty asking for the various perks in Australia. I mean, i'd go and see him but owing to his moderate popularity he may be worth "all that and a bag of potato chips" in the USA but would he be worth the same and thus justified in asking for the same perks here?
At a guess, I'd fathom "no."
However, if he'd done the same touring schedule like the Foo Fighters for example and built a fanbase that could be basically guaranteed to show up and pay X Dollar$ the answer would be "yes."

Spot on Krusden
and to most people under 21 foo fighters are their tom petty of sorts..

i think its a bit of a kick in the teeth for fans having a list of demands before even considering playing.

Tom is certainly a different person that he was in the late 70's, it must be an age and becoming an elder statesman of rock thing, since the Heartbreakers 30th anniversary and anthology project it seems that the HB's have played it very safe, playing the same hits, the same way and making what I thought was a well played yet indulgant blues rock record, they earnt the right to do that but I really hope they can unleash a killer rock album to breath fire once again, the way the boys built their name, take the risks, expand from your comfort base Tom and boys, bugger private jets, share rooms, get the rock camaradarie going, bring back Stan!

McCartney will take the country by storm with his show if he does tour, wow I can't wait, and don't care how much it costs he's a 1/4 of the Beatles and a living music legend!

As for the Foos, they are my favourite rock band.

It may be too much to ask but I wouldn't mind Neil Young getting an angry streak and bringing the tattered jeans, Elvis shirt, flanno and ressurect Crazy Horse!!!

been slowly plodding my way through this

pretty decent. starting at his solo work chapters cause the beatles story has been told a few times. i'll go back there though
"An Intimate Life of Paul McCartney"?

How the hell does the editor miss such a big grammatical error IN THE TITLE!?

that's why people salivate over him coming here I think.
1/4 of the beatles, 1/2 of the greatest songwriting team of all time (IMO) are two reasons people get hopeful he will be coming here.

with his history though i doubt prices will be reasonable.
but we will see i guess..i wont go if its over priced. i would wanna be close or not go at all.
