I know he is the love child on of most people on here but how does he excape critisizm?

His lack of pace was yet again exposed yesterday particularly on Cloke, infact his last month has been below par (Mooney, Neitz - with a bung knee, Tredrea - with a bung knee, Cloke) and there was no match up for him last week against the dogs.

Yeah I know he has released Fletcher but where do you draw the line when he is getting led a merry dance by his quicker opponent?

I agree, but at the end of the day, we've got no one else who can play on those forwards.

This is where the next couple of years of good recruiting becomes very important.

He was recruited to release Fletcher and he has done that job well. Everyone knew that he lacked pace, and thats why he has been stationed at FB for most of the year. Opposition tteams have just taken advantage of it unfortunately.

if you watch him for a whole match though you will see how many spoils he actually makes.. yes he gets exposed on the lead but it is bloody hard for any defender when more often then not the opposition is kicking under no pressure inside 50... if we play well we can make fletcher a free man which works so well eg vs brisbane.. he really does make a lot of spoils in the match, whenever its a marking contest he will get the spoil 99 times out of 100... its just on the lead where he is in trouble.

Once they get rid of this 'hands in the back' rule, we'll see exactly what he can do and justify recruiting him.

You can't ask anymore of guys like Mal and Fletch when the midfield is getting smashed so much.

Yeah, they are always under seige. I still think they could have done a bit better yesterday. Fletch was too conscious of body contact a few times and didn't focus on the footy when if we had he could have spoilt and Mal looked to be lacking a bit of intensity.

I think he has been a good inclusion, the new hands in the back rule have certainly not worked in Mals favour though. He is good for players like Brown etc who are big and not easily outmarked.

Totally agree. Saw the game yesterday and looked out of depth playing on Cloke and Rocca. Seeing him play up forward for the past few weeks has me wondering if Sheedy believes that he dont have the ability to play on the top forwards going around.

Maybe you would prefer Bolts or Bradley taking one of the bigger forwards ?
Seriously if you cant see why he was drafted you need to look harder. It was becasue short term we had no one else!

So if the Pies only had one of Presti/Wakelin/Clement/Obrien on their list you would be happy to be covering the opposition forwards with just one of the above and say Nathan Brown or , Ben Ried or Guys Richards.....
We have him becasue he fills a short term hole we need to fill.

I know full well why he was recruited to the club ant and did not have a problem with it.;)

What I am questioning is persisting with him at KP back when he is getting exposed and how he is immune from critisizm on these boards.

To be honest given his output I'd rather throw Johns in his position over the next few weeks and seeing whether he sinks or swims.

Something i would also like to see as if Johns is ever going to make it i feel it may be as a backman . I suppose we will be in a position to do it soon if our current form holds up.

he hasnt been that bad and u cant blame him for how quick the ball gets into our defence thats the midfields fault but at times i must say he looks disinterested maybe im wrong.....just doesnt seem to have that mongrel in him like he did with brisbane

The fact that we dont have anyone that seems to be able to get into the holes in front of oppostion forwards doesnt help. they all get a free run at the ball and more times than not it is a one on one contest as we dont get any numbers back to help out.
