Will be the best in the premier league for a long long time, the kid is young, needs a few seasons in the gym to handle the bodies in the box. He has shown he is an incredible shot stopper.

Give him time.

United's #1 by a mile.

DDG for me. I really want him to have a long consistent run of games just like the second half of last season. He is more than capable. Two big games coming up. I hope SAF goes with DDG. It would give him a massive boost.

Rooney could be on the bench for Galatasaray, but he's almost certain to be back on Sunday at Anfield. Young should be available on Sunday as well.

Rooney back already? That is good news but I hope he doesn't feature against Galatasary because it would be a huge risk. Get him ready to come off the bench against the scousers

Hi Guys. Wondering if anyone could find out what this umbro Man United shirt is (maybe fan apparel)
I bought it at an op shop last summer. Can't find an image of it on the web
I'm guessing it's rare(?) It looks like United's 1998-99 3rd kit

Good win today boys. Got the 3 points which is what it is all about. Start Rooney vs Liverpool as he should be back

Oh and as to DDG vs Lindgard. DDG in big games but Lindgard for stock standard EPL games

97 Training top had umbro and United logo in the middle

Still can't find one of mine

Why it was a case of the Mao the merrier for David De Gea as he kept out Galatasaray

The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step - and the Spaniard took that step towards convincing Fergie that he can be Manchester United's No.1 keeper
Two into one does go if you are Sir Alex Ferguson.

Publicly, the Manchester United manager is dealing with the issue of who should be his No.1 goalkeeper by making it a job-share between David de Gea and Anders Lindegaard.

But, in reality, Lindegaard is Fergie’s preferred choice - for now at least.

De Gea played here in a 1-0 Champions League win over Galatasaray, which means his rival is almost certain to start against Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday in this game of goalkeeping hokey-cokey.

Ferguson thought this situation might arise when he bought De Gea to replace Edwin van der Sar, because he was so raw. Which was why he took out an insurance policy by also buying Lindegaard.

He did not want a repeat of the problems he had trying to replace Peter Schmeichel 13 years ago, when he went through the likes of Mark Bosnich and Massimo Taibi – remember him? – before getting to van der Sar.

The United boss had no competent understudy to turn to then, and has no qualms about turning to Lindegaard until De Gea learns how to command his area.

That could be some time, if ever, judging by De Gea’s poor performance against Fulham last month, which earned him a blast of Fergie’s hairdyer.

This Galatasaray match was an opportunity for the Spaniard to begin regaining Ferguson’s trust.

He had little to do that would have impressed his manager, although he should have faced a penalty in the first minute when Nemanja Vidic fouled Umut Bulut.

De Gea could have done better when Jonny Evans played a backpass to him and he kicked the ball straight out rather than finding a red shirt.

He was beaten by Selcuk Inan’s header but, fortunately for him, the effort failed to sneak inside the far post.

De Gea did however redeem himself by making an excellent double save to preserve United’s slender lead.

But as Mao Tse Tung said: “The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.”

And, on Wednesday night, De Gea took that step.

It is as if these journalists want to look like idiots.

Thought i'd come on here and have a say at how the team is going. Since 2007 (When i got into football/soccer), this is the worst I've seen United play, yet unlike other seasons, we are getting wins early, which is important, because you know you are a good side when you're playing shithouse but still getting results.

Currently we sit 2nd in the league, but clearly, we are not even a top 4 side at the moment with how we are playing. The performance against Liverpool was shocking, our 1st half was woeful and we were very fortunate with the ref, he was on our side no doubt about it.

I'm confident we will eventually click when players get some confidence back and have had a lot of training with the new boys (RVP, Kagawa), so I'm sure we will start putting in some very fine performances soon.

Also, what does everyone think about Nani? He was close to leaving on the transfer dealine day, and honestly, i hope he is gone by January. Worst performance by a United player in that first half against Liverpool, didn't do anything right and jogged around, looks like a player who doesn't want to be here, sell him while we can still get a good price.

Evra, our worst player, a huge liability down back and just doesn't man-up, he is going to cost us vital points sooner or later if he keeps playing, time to put the faith in newcomer Buttner.

United look like they are struggling to get any continuity to their passing game although as this has been the case for a long time so i'm not sure if this is by design or not. Does the team sacrifice clean passing and the potential to play a Barcelona style game in an attempt to generate drive via the wings ala every Fergie team since the 90's? I would like to see ManU develop a more contemporary passing syle but I don't think this will happen with Fergie at the helm. Counter attack all the way.

That said, the defence has been pretty shakey for the better part of two years due to injury and the deline of Ferdinand. Fix that up and I reckon the team would have a better platform from which to launch attacks. I'd love to see this club get Mats Hummels from B. Dortmund for his strong defence and composure to address this need.

As for Nani, he has always been a touch flaky, but his form of late indicates that his head is elsewhere. Don't expect him to get much game time over the next month as a consequence of his awful performance at Anfield. I'd expect him to be sold asap.

In fairness Carrick has been holding the centre of the park together for us in a role that doesn't necessarily suit his overall game. He ain't no defensive maestro and when paired with Scholes, Giggs or Anderson he has to cover for their lack of defensive capabilities.

Evra and Rio will fade not so gracefully and Nani is pants. Gone to the highest bidder in January.

Table flatters us right now.

Nani has been as useful as a spare tyre in an exercise bike.

Sell Nani, Evra, Carrick and Rio

He is the only one that will go out of the 4 you have mentioned. Evra will stay, and so he should, but he should not be playing week-in-week out anymore, and especially in the big games, is way past it now and should only start league games and home PL games against weaker teams.

Carrick can't be sold, we need him to hold the midfield, him and Scholes is all we have tbh.

And Rio, he was immense against Liverpool, but he is also on the down, can't see him leaving anytime soon though as he is a required player, and i expect him to retire a Man Utd player.

Sell Nani, Evra, Carrick and Rio
As already said, fair enough about Nani, but the other three? Evra whilst ordinary, if sold would leave with only Buttner. Rio is one of only three fit centre halves and was good on Sunday. We'd get little for those two anyway. Carrick is the biggest wtf. We are thin as it is in centre mid and he is our best there.

Back in 07/08, 08/09 Rio was hardly injured, and there was no other CB that we could have got to replace him if we did sell him then, he and Vidic created the best partnership in the EPL and possibly the world. The last 2 or so years though he has been very injury prone and he's best is past him, but if he can play to the standard like he did against Liverpool, he'll do well and right now we need him.

But if we had of sold him when he had value it would have been better for the club. The horse has bolted now unfortunately and his best is well behind him.

Now we will put up with his injuries, finger pointing when he is clearly at fault in between some good and bad performances.

Like I said and I have it in here for year, the writting was on the wall sometime ago and we should have sold him then.
