When it was on the news in 2019 that Bill Collins, the movie presenter, had died I was like, "WTF? I thought he died years ago ".
I've got a few like that. For example, I swear I remember English comedian/actor Alexi Sayle dying in 2008, but he is still alive. I thought US Politician Henry Kissinger was among the many famous people who died in 2016, but he is also still alive at the time of posting aged 99. And when Australia actor Robert Hughes from Hey Dad came back into the news in 2010 for all the wrong reasons, I was surprised because I thought he had died from complications after surgery in the early 2000s. However, it was another Australian actor Paul Chubb who was active in the 1970s, 1980s and into the 1990s who died after surgery in 2002, so I must have remembered this wrong.

Really? What did he say?
“I have the advantage of knowing your habits, my dear Watson,” said he. “When your round is a short one you walk, and when it is a long one, you use a hansom. As I perceive that your boots, although used, are by no means dirty, I cannot doubt that you are at present busy enough to justify the hansom.”

“Excellent!” I cried.

“Elementary,” said he.

I've always remembered the Trevor Chappell underarm incident as being a day/night game and the actual incident taking place at night. Saw a video of it today and it happened during the day.

Pre light towers. I always remember rod marsh shaking his head.

They had light towers at the SCG back then and they played day/night games there but they didn't play any at the MCG until the mid 1980s.

It was the same for the WACA, they didn't get light towers until the mid 1980s, I think the Gabba and Adelaide Oval got them much later on.

Pikachu's tail heck s with my head. Apparently it never had a black tip, it's yellow all the way along. I call bullshit.

I think the problem is that you get some fan art that replicates the ear design on the tail

There are definitely some i subscribe to like berenstein bears. But interestingly, unlike the name of this phenomenon nelson mandela i never had the experience of him passing years ago like i guess US folks because of our connection to cricket and SA touring etc etc.
there must have been some US based event or movie or tv show or (shock!) incorrect reporting on a news service over there

Cool Runnings for me.

I'm convinced when I saw it in the cinema there was a scene just before the Jamaicans last race where their sled was sabotaged. You never saw by who, but you saw someone break into where the sleds were kept, and this person clipped a wire and unscrewed a couple of screws.

During their last race you see their screws loosening and then falling apart and they crash. I've never seen it on any other copy of Cool Runnings, haven't found any information online that this is correct and the only other person who remembers it is one of my mates who I watched it with at the cinema. It seems like my/our memory of it is completely fabricated.

Funnily enough I found on reddit that there's a whole stack of people who having watched Cool Runnings on Disney+ have the same memory of me, of the sled being sabotaged

George Bush video in the 80s where he talks about Mandela's passing away

I was convinced that celebrity chef and one-time face of former supermarket Bi-Lo, Iain Hewitson, was dead. My Nanna used to watch him religiously and one day we were all at the races when he was doing a cooking class (weird I know), from then on it was a running joke in the family.

I have strong memories of sharing the news of his death with family and saying that him and Nanna would be cooking up a storm in heaven.

Now he launches a TikTok and is apparently alive! Seems I'm not the only one thinking this too...
