Oscar Allen leaving as a free agent would mean the eagles need to trade for Bontempelli if they dont want to lose the compo pick. Doggies wouldnt trade him cheap

More likely we take Allen compo and trade for Bont than force a trade for Allen and get Bont via FA.

It would depend on how hard nosed you would want to be. P18/P19 …which boots out to something in the 20’s , perhaps late 20’s as a trade for Bont … instead of something after the Dogs R1 ..lets say P10 to P15. It could be P18 ..they might win the thing who knows..but their pick could also be earlier. Id imagine the Dogs would rightly be upset at that.. and it would sour the Bonts exit. I could imagine he wishing for them to get the best comp possible.

If the dogs finish 8th and the hawks 5th, with all the other crap that'll be a 5ish pick difference.
If we gave hawks 1st+hawks 2nd (essentially what we got for Barrass) i dont think the dogs could be too aggrieved assuming he's gone regardless.

Obviously its not ideal for them but it also sort of is what it is.

I dont think the hawks are good enough to be that far ahead of the dogs tbh, especially without Day

This would be massive if the Eagles pull this off.

Regardless of some of their nuffy supporters spouting a full rebuild playing just kids, they need a guy like this to set standards and hold them afloat while they develop.

Great move. Get Bont UFA, keep Allan, do everything possible to keep Harley move A Reid to the backline and pick up the best talent at pick one in the draft.

Should've posted the interesting bit of news in this article rather than just laughing at West Coast.

Sources within the Eagles told The West the club was in talks about “making a play” for the Bulldogs captain to add much-needed experience to their young list.
But West Coast could be in a race against time, with Collingwood considered the frontrunner to poach Bontempelli if he does not re-sign with the Dogs.
