Doubt it was accepted by Smorgon... more like forced on him by Smorgon (as he should, no leader should allow someone to cause this much havoc).

Smorgon has some balls.
 
So the guy who masterminded the Princess Park development and was part of the Unity ticked just resigns like that?

And Rose came out in the press for what purpose?

If this is true Smorgon has no control over his board and him being our President is a liability.

How can you run a club when you can't control your board.

More importantly, how can you run a club when you are in complete denial over the financial state of the organisation, even when your own board members continue to throw it in your face?

What i want to know is why are so many members choosing to ignore this fact? And brushing it under the carpet, making constant excuses? This club is 8 million in debt. Think of that before you start make excuses.

And are we the first club to be in debt? NO! Will we be the last? PROBABLY NOT!

Seriously, brushing it under the carpet and making constant excuses? Who is doing that? We have clearly accepted that this club is in debt but we are far from brushing it under the carpet and making excuses.

Once this election is over, the wheels will be set in motion. Our great club will start to take the necessary steps it needs to get out of the ******** and back to where we once were!! A powerhouse club!

Seriously AWG. Where has this come from? The impression I got prior to today is that you are a strong minded woman who makes her own decisions and doesn't believe everything they read like majority of non Carlton supporters. After today and the article in the Herald Sun, I get the impression that you are a sheep :( I don't mean to personally attack you either. I am just disappointed after reading several of your posts tonight that's all.

BG i am a strong minded person, and very very stubborn.

However, i can't keep pretending that it will be ok, and that we're fine.

I can't do that. It doesn't make me a sheep. How much longer do i need to keep believing it's all ok? Because it clearly is not. I'd be a sheep if i didn't actually wake up to it all.

I dont understand why everyone thinks we'll be ok, simply because we're Carlton. We are in massive financial trouble.

Bloody hell. I believe it because one of our own, infact, 2 of our own have come out and stated what is going on. Both have then been alienated by Smorgan and his club.

If it were other people, from other clubs, i'd be sceptical, but the fact is that they're our own people coming out.

They're blue at heart too. That's why i beleive them.

That sounds a lot like 'brushing it under the carpet' to me. How the club president can be saying our financial position has improved, when his directors, the media, and pretty much everyone else (who can count) are saying the exact opposite is astounding.

The entire Board has acknowledged that we are in trouble and they are in the process of trying to think of ways to get us out of trouble. Why are you having so much trouble understanding that?
 
It is making me feel so embarrassed to see how arrogant carlton people are.

Im angry. At the way it has been dealt with. The way people dont see it as a big deal.

Since when has the club's financial situations improved? We all know it hasn't. Bullsh1t.

8 Million dollars in debt. And yet, he wants to borrow more money to build some 65million dollar complex?

Wake up. Please.

The media, some of our biggest supporters, A PRESIDENT'S OWN DIRECTORS are all trying to tell us that it is not ok. Yet there are so many people still saying it is.

My 1000th post is out of anger and utter disgust at the sheltered view many people have.

A president's directors, who love this club, simply cannot bear to keep it quiet, and are trying to reach out to everyone, yet they are condemmed for doing so.

I've never sworn on a post before, but i feel like doing it now. :)

You can have the best business plan in place but we are talking about a football club whos profits are almost purely based on winning games of footy...

If a director in my company reported something negetive in the press i would sack his arse...Lorraine an Marcus have nothing but soar grapes...
Didnt Malouf think of this redevelopement...Rose has stated its his baby????

Although i hate all the bulls**** in the papers its politics plain and simple, people use scare tactics all the time...

With a membership base like ours it would only take us 4 years of finals footy to be out of debt!

I think its Blue Skys ahead... Ill stay positive because i believe this young list of ours can bring us success!

Wait a sec ... who is saying that our position hasn't improved? We can improve and still be in dire straits simply because of our starting position which Rose stated was the worst any club has been in.

We are just not improving fast enough and are relying on traditional revenue streams where we really have to be innovative to survive.

I think that sums it up pretty well, ODN. With some of the stronger clubs heading towards turnover of $50 million per year there is no way the traditional methods of revenue raising will be sufficient to generate the necessary funds to achieve this level of turnover.

With respect to the club's overall financial position it should never be forgotten that in the early part of 2003, Bruce Mathieson floated the idea of the club being placed into receivership such was the depth of our financial woes back then. There are those who forget just how poorly placed we were financially when Elliott was finally moved on. We certainly had to come from a long way back, financially.

And we were $12M in debt a few years ago.
Give it a couple of years and we will almost be debt free IMHO.

Once we start improving on-field, our off-field woes simply will NOT be there.

He didn't. He said we had improved financially but our future was not guaranteed using traditional revenue streams, thus running the risk of going the way of the Fitzroy dodo.

He was always dredging up some late votes for the stage 2 development. Maybe they have seen a voting trend already and Rose was in big trouble.

Wake up! How the hell can we be going anywhere when we have people like Rose who put their own interests before the club?
He fell on his own sword and good riddance to him.
Now for Smorgan, Wilson and Malouf and we may start to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
You have the right to vote so make it count.
This latest turmoil just shows (once again) how incompetent and inept this board is.
Vote them out!
