Young Addam seems to divide supporters as to his potential as a player but I'm a fan (mainly judging from his ratings in his draft year, as opposed to his struggles at AFL level so far).

Anyway, an article on the club's home page could give a good explanation as to why he hasn't really found his feet in the seniors yet, and in particular, why his kicking (supposedly his great strength) hasn't been 100%.

One of the attributes Maric is hoping to bring to the top level this year is his kicking efficiency, which was considered elite at junior level.

"[My kicking] dropped off a little after I had my operations, but I feel I've got it back to what it was … hopefully I have a good season in front of goals."

Be interesting to see how he goes this year. He does have a fair bit of opposition for roles in the FP/HFF: Petterd, Wona, and resting mids like Green, Davey, Sylvia etc.

Would like to see him given an extended chance in the seniors though.

I am a fan as well and believe he is another very important player in regards to us being a good team or a successful team. All premiership sides have 1 or 2 very dangerous small forwards. Maric's development(and also Wona's) is crucial to our side in the coming years. If he can live up to his potential, he could be a major cog in our forward line along with Watts, Jurrah, Wona, Bate etc. I don't know him personally, so I can't comment on his attitude, but from what I've seen at training and some passages of play during games, the kid has major potential....

Maric is a friend of a friend of mine. I met him out one night a year or 2 ago clubbing inbetween seasons. I had a great chat with him n couldnt believe how much he loved the club. Suprisingly ended up talking to him for about an hour where i thought he would leave after 5 mins seeing how obsessed i was with melbourne. He seems pretty dedicated and if he can bring his junior form to the senior team...he will be an absolute gun!

I know he stuffs a few kicks, but he's one of only a few players (Green, Davey thats about it!) who can hit a 40m pass quickly and staight infront of a forward. His passage of play against Freo where he hit Miller lace out (who dropped the mark) was really nice.

He also showed a desire to win the tough footy against StKilda up at Carrara last year. I don't like making excuses for players but school in his first season as a young player and 3 major injuries are fair enough, its not the ideal way to start an AFL career.

I'm looking at Maric, Blease and Strauss to all show that they can be AFL players this year, because they were very 'expensive' draft choices.

Definitely has potential. I've liked him ever since the game we played against geelong in the wet a couple of years ago. We lost by about 20 goals but he was pretty good and his skills in the wet were head and shoulders above anything else in red and blue that night. Hope he can get on the park for a full year

Cant wait untill this kid gets himself right. Watched him regulary when playing at Cannons, Couldn't get near him, elite foot skills, great overhead mark for his size and knows where the sticks are. Lot of Cannons people surprised he didnt go top 10. Awesome prospect.

There was talk that if Grimes wasn't available at 14, then Melbourne would have taken Maric with that pick.

Not sure how reliable that is, but it's what I've heard.

On Maric, I like him as a player, and I think he's taken a bit longer due to injury. Really, at the moment he's like any young player, he mixes some good with some bad.

I think his kicking could be a real weapon in the future, assuming he can get the odd shank out of his game.

To be fair to BS, I have also heard that his attitude hasnt been the best in his first 2 years and he can be a little arrogant and alouf.

Its only second hand information but Ive heard it on more than 1 occasion.

Needs to take a step up this year either way.

He certainly has the skills to become a regular performer, a pity that three early injuries have held him back. I see him someone who won't make an immediate impact but will gradually improve over time as he builds his fitness and strength.
My prediction is that by the end of the year he'll be a regular but will battle to hold his position in the future when players like Wona, Jetta & Tapscott mature

Kicked a very nice goal today and looked alright today. Has a great kick on him, just seems to lack a little confidence but i think he will grow this year and become a good player for you guys.

Really liked his game today, noticed a few of the boys who lacked a bit of intensity (Maric, Morton) showed a lot today, maybe something has been said behind closed doors?
