Whats the go here guys. I think he was injured most of this year. However he was super impressive when played in 2009 (little bit of aggression he needs to lose but I like a bit of mongrel), so much so that the commentators (McAvaney and Commetti) noted him on several occasions. It was a "im seeing something here too" from those guys, which was validation for me.

All this talk that we NEED a KPD and I thought he was being groomed as one and showing heaps that he will fill that role.

We probably need another KPD still, but where is Austin at? Am I wrong that hes being groomed as a KPD?

Yeah he was going well last year, was unlucky to get dropped, which seemed to shatter his

confidence and then this year was a disaster. Must be due for a big 2011.

As much as I like White and the fact he is a smart footballer like Jamo, I have higher hopes for Aussie...Really impressed in our 22 before he got struck down with injury and hopefully he can finally get his body right for 2011, I wouldn't take much note of some sub par performance in VFL as I have a feeling the club told him to get right for 2011 :thumbsu:

Was impressive in 2009 but season 2010 was a complete write off after suffering an injury in the preseason.

If he stays fit for the entire preseason, I have no doubt that he'll push for senior selection from as early as round 1.

Agrees showed alot of promise and like most of the boys need a big preseason.

Our whole side needs to do the same preseason regiment Walks, Eddie and Princess (Houlihan) did this year.

The 8 weeks off will do him wonders... if he doesnt play cricket again.

Did he injure himself playing cricket?

I forgot about White as well. KPD again @ 190cm?

Why all this concern over KPD? These guys are young, but it seems we are getting a few coming through who are showing enough...

Really hope he stays injury free. Assuming we can't land a decent ready-made KP defender, we need Bower, Jamo and Austin all fit and playing in the starting 22. We're still vulnerable if one goes down because there's no backup, apart from Waite who we need forward.

:)

Saw him running around local running track with Gibbs and Ellard the other day and he looks great. To top it off have spoken to him a number of times and he is a top fella.....

I rate him very highly and as such was very happy to see him putting the hard yards in during the off-season and reckon he will be fantastic in 2011. Go Aussie!!!

Apart from White?

Mark Austin > Trade Talk

He is the one to play CHB and release Bower for a more attacking role. I'm willing to back Aussie in over anyone that is being talked about as a potential trade target.

Was the 2nd best player in the team :thumbsu:

Form was down all season but he was the one that really lifted in the grand final.

I agree. He played a great game in the GF. He had a couple of skill errors, but Hale only beat him a couple of times and none of Hale's three goals were kicked while Austin was on him.

Yeah, and quality supply was coming in thick and fast all day sadly.

just on that preseason regiment, those three started the season on fire then, houlahan got injured (too big a workload??) & eduardo & walks dropped right off in form? anything in this??

Im still not sold on aussie, i hear his season was ruined by injury? how many did he miss? I saw him live 3 times this year in the vfl and he was disappointing in 2 and i thought he was solid in the granny! hopefully he gets there, but if not can expect the chop next year imo.

Always injured. Needs to get fit and needs to be persisted with to learn his trade. He played well in the VFL final. He just needs to pull it together. He will be competing with Simon White for a Spot in 2010 me thinks.

Have high hopes for this lad. Definitely looking forward to him joining Jammo and Bower on a full time basis. His body shape shows that he will be a monster when he grows up. Just hope he regularly plays 16+ per year for the next few years, then we'll have an AA defender on our hands.

I'm not convinced Ratts really rates him. But he loves White and Davies.

Last year after they copped flack for picking Lucas over Talia the club said our backline was looking fine. But most defenders have not improved or gone backwards.

Love the aggression and the ability to spoil with both hands.
Haven't seen too much of the Ants so still have very high hopes for Aussie based on his senior performances.
Will be a very good CHB if he can get fit enough.

If you think he is the answer to our prays... There aint no god...

Will be lucky to play 50 games in his AFL career...

Slow, injury prone and poor skills...

But at least he looks like a CHB....
