Credit to him for talking on KROCK post game.

Agreed, especially since Tim McGrath directly confronted him about the coaching and support staff being "disgraceful" in not all staying around to clap Mackie and Lonergan off.
When asked about (1) the position he should play / (2) what he should improve, he said
1. Midfield
2. Have more of an impact in games where the team was struggling.

I ain't defending him, as I find him infinitely droppable (though he is a surprisingly good spoil, so can see the defence option).

But he can't play all over the place. It's a myth.
fair point...

poorly phrased by me...

Should have said "is being played"

Thx for correction.

Not sure how many people have seen this story:

Whilst most AFL players plot their off-season holidays around sun, surf and sand, Cats midfielder Mark Blicavs is taking a path much less travelled.

Blicavs and his former schoolmates Luke, Dan and Jason will next week embark on one of the most physically demanding tasks on the planet as they strive to complete the 16 day trek through the Himalayas to the Mt Everest Basecamp.

But this trip isn’t about pleasure. The four men have all had friends and family close to them battle mental health issues, something affecting one in five Australians.

And to do their bit to support research into mental health, the foursome will be raising money for The Kai Eardley Fund. The foundation was set up in 2016 following the passing of 20-year old Kai Eardley, who’s brother Cam was a past teammate of Blicavs at the Cats.

“The Kai Earley Fund do fantastic work educating and supporting youth in relation to mental health in conjunction with the Man Up campaign,” Blicavs said.

“Everest basecamp is 5,545 meters above sea level, and our goal is to raise $1 for every meter we climb.”

“Even if people want to donate for just one meter, every contribution is greatly appreciated and supports a cause that many people closely associate with.”

Always said he'd be a useful Key back, but we are set for some issues if henderson and Taylor are fit. What do we do with him then? Back into limbo as a pseudo ruck- mid?
I am thinking that we could easily do without Taylor with a fit list...

Still baffling some question his worth to this team and his deservedness of a 5 year contract. Both are beyond doubt now

Taylor forward instead of buzza?:straining:

He should be traded or played as a depth player when we dont have any other options. He is a break glass in an emergency player, when there are no decent kids available to take the spot.

He cant ruck, he cant take contested marks, his disposal under pressure is horrible as is his decision making.

The last thing we need in defence is Blicavs.
Ouch

Blitz has impressed as a key back. Definitely found his happy place.

Was great today and to keep big Ben Brown goaless was massive.

What I like now with his game is that he's performing AND it's genuinely a big role within the team.
The recent kinda tagger/kinda big runner type of midfield role he played wasn't exactly integral to the team and he wasn't all that awesome at it, however he could and perhaps should be in AA contention as a key back.
Sensational player down there.

Happy to finally get a call right for once. Wanted Blicavs in defence for a while now and now it’s happened we’re a better team for it. The way he plays back there is fantastic, but with him moving down there it’s opened up his midfield spot for others who are better in there like a Menegola, Parfitt, even a Cunico on the outside. Proud of ya Blitz!

There were a few here who said he’d never make a footballer. Ooops!

Incidentally, nice piece in the Hun today by Scott Gullan on Blitz. In the last para Blitz said he wanted to be remembered as a footballer who did some athletics rather than an athlete who played some football. Job done!:thumbsu:
