If Blits from here on in does as much ruck work as Lonergan used to the club might have seen the light.Provided they don't reintroduce the third man up rule that is,his last two games down back have been super promising the only criticism being a need to disguise the deliberate out of bounce a bit better, the umps are on to him with that.

I cant help but think how fortunate Blicavs / we are that Taylor and Henderson suffered long term injuries this year. We were struggling to work out where he should play. He now owns full back

If you can’t credit Blicavs for yesterday’s performance you have your head up your arse.
I did think certain posts had a muffled sound to them...:D:D

Its one thing to not like a bloke and thats fair enough.

When he goes out in back to back weeks and pretty much, on a one and one and team basis takes the 2 best and in form #1 KPF's of 2 different teams and gives them a bath - you have to acknowledge the performance. Instead, he got none of that and goal posts moved to a MCG discussion.

Laughable.

Even the "not liking a bloke"- sometimes that can change, but some people aren't able to eat humble pie and say "he's won me over".
I'm happy to admit I'm not a fan of JJ yet, Crameri, Tuohy, but at the same time, if any of them help us win games, will alter my thinking.
What some people here seem to do is develop a strong dislike of a player, eg Murdoch, Stanley, Parsons, and then week after week look for the little things they dislike about the player to reinforce their dislike, but seriously ignoring any good things. Blinkered vision at games live, or on TV. You can hear them at games. Frustrating. I guess a forum like this is to vent frustration; ok, enough said. Each to his own.

Sure Blicavs can run all day, what I'm enjoying is Inspector Gadget arms. He seems to bring them around the opponent neatly and accurately. Very Fletcher like.

Absolutely right, his long reach is a big plus along with 3rd up experience makes him ideal in a spoiling role.
He's a good judge of when to punch and when to mark as his stats prove.

I never ever want to see him on the ball or ruck ever again, I was never a big fan of Blitz until his move to defence. He’s a bit Dustin Fletcher like with his long reach and athleticism.

P.S sorry I just read another comment about Fletcher

Talking to a recruiter over here a few years ago about the various criteria they use when identifying talent.
Surprised me TBH about how much they looked at family genes. Both Blitz's parents played Olympic Basketball for Australia I believe - I can remember his old man Andy playing at the original VABA stadium - absolute beast of a bloke who was a rebounding machine IIRC.
Apart from the athleticism imagine how well prepared and competitive both parents are to have both reached the pinnacle.
My son and I have loved Ballroom since his first NAB Cup game over here in which he almost jumped over Sandilands in their first ruck contest. Special talent , have loved his journey and feel we have a 250 game defender on our hands now

Succulent and on point...Brown is the leading goal kicker in the Coleman race

Gee Blitz did better than what I expected on Brown, he deserves some credit for the hard work in the defence this year.

Haven't seen the game yet but sure sounds like it.

Have the red wine lined up for some very enjoyable viewing tonight.

Blitz is better than either but Henderson is good when in form.
Going well atm but time to reload with a few talls.
Rubbish Blicavs is better than Stewart. Stewart has absolutely dominated this year. One of the best defenders year at Geelong in a decade. Note I was a massive Stewart detractor last year.

Blicavs has been pretty damn good. But his season is being overstated. Has been done over by a number of forwards and his disposal continues to get us in a lot of trouble. Stewart and Henderson (when fit) are our best followed by Blicavs.

The three together will make up a bloody good key defensive line. Probably close to the best in the Comp.

Not even the same type Stewart is a flanker that's his only role.
Blicavs covers where we're struggling or undersized all over the ground.
We lack enough talls so he's constantly filling gaps.
That's why we're 8th this year.

That ain’t an argument about who is the best defender. Half back flankers are defenders too. Filling gaps outside defence has nothing to do with the point of who is the better defender.

And on the seperate point of him filling gaps he has done very little of that this year as he has played defence basically all year. On the few times he has filled other gaps he has largely failed like in the West Coast game where he got murdered in the ruck. Or the Hawthorn game where he got murdered by average rucks who played season best games.

Exactly my point, he's rucking in games when we were undersized and bullied by the opposition.
He's the victim of our stop gap tall diplomacy because we've been caught short more often than not.
The guy can't settle even when he's dominant in a role.
We gave up 3 goals last weekend but no credit given the defense.
He always takes the best and biggest that can kick bags not the little half forward like Stewart does.

Can you please provide details of the "number of forwards" that he has been done over by?

Maybe this is what they are implying ;)

Jack Riewoldt, Ben Brown, Tom Lynch, Taylor Walker and Jesse Hogan.

An imposing list of forwards that includes the current top two contenders in the Coleman Medal race and one of the most sought after free agents in the game.

In 2018 Mark Blicavs has spent 388 minutes matched up against these five big names. He has conceded just three goals.

This is a man spending his first year in defence.

So when you say "done over" can you define that. The inference being he's been beaten and beaten well - which typcially means having a bag or so kicked on him. Now a bag used to be 10. Its been watered down to 5 these days so that should make it easier to qualify.

I fail to recall any game this year where as a KPD he has been " done over" but im sure you can provide details to educate me.

I recognise you posted that he's been pretty damn good - so lets see the "done over" part.
