Just wanted to share my thoughts on his start at the club.

Seems to have built a really professional coaching staff and football department which should only help the club move forward.

The mere fact that He relentlessly went after a Key Position Forward makes me really like him so far. As we have all stated, Mitch is the sort of player we should have gone after years ago as there has been a clear gap in a dominant forward at the club probably since Neita retired.

Bailey never seemed to be active at all in trade week, which boggles my mind considering it has been apparent for so long that we need a big body in the square.

The Forward line is looking phenomenal at the moment and will really put pressure on everyone to perform as we have greater depth now.
I especially hope Jurrah finds some consistency as he cant afford to drop his form.. otherwise he'll struggle to make his way back into the squad.

I'm still however abit confused as to why we did not accept Pick 39 for Bate considering he is absolutely no chance in my opinion to make the team at all, unless we have some serious injuries.

Bate serves absolutely no purpose on our list and pick 39 would have been a bargain for someone who has no future at the club and will have no impact whatsoever .

Although, so far so good for Mark Neeld and the footy club.

Quite excited that the club finally got some balls and decided to do right by the members and finally head us into the right direction by adding a significant piece to the puzzle.

Thus to sum up, Welcome Mitch... great to have you
And Mark Neeld, your doing a heck of a job so far.

Hes off to a flying start.

But like all coaches he will be judged on wins.losses and how deep he gets his team into the Finals, and hopefully gets them there consistently.

I have to say Im feeling very relaxed.... Ive never been more confident with an MFC coaching staff than I am with this lot.

Amazing to think just a few months ago we lost by 186 points and the world was falling apart.

He's put himself in a great position to get off to a great start. With the strong coaching group we have acquired, along with the big Mitch Clark steaming out of the goal square we look 10x better on paper.

I have a good feeling about next season. I like the way we brought in Neil Craig and people like that.. I hope he can be our next premiership coach..

Yup.

Hes put us and himself in such a great position that Ill be shattered if we dont play Finals.

I am very confident we will get there, and make some noise.

We got Neeld in to add some balls to this club, I think he's started well, I am enjoying his work!

Also hats off again to out administration for having the balls to back him and get in the people he wants.

Big opportunity for this club to mean something again!

Like, for example ... David Hale?

Short memories.

As for Bate, it would appear that Neeld has decided that he is a required player - at least for the moment. Or he'd be at the Dogs, even for pick 39.

I've bolded the relevant part. I have little interest in your opinion of Bate although I thank you for sharing. I have a great deal of interest in Neeld's opinion of Bate and if he would rather keep him than trade him, I'm all for it. Neeld has been through the list & identified what he sees as gaps. He may see Bate in a different light to we supporters. There's speculation that Bate could be used in the midfield, particularly at stoppages. I'm wondering if Neeld sees him in a Ben Johnson type role but I guess time will tell.

In defence of the club's inactivity in trade week during Bailey's tenure 1) we did try to lure David Hale last year but couldn't match what the Hawks offered North and 2) we were in a phase where we were constantly trying to get more & better draft picks

Has been a big turnaround for the club the last few months. A totally new coaching department and a good trade period.

Hopefully this equates to a positive 2012 season, but this is the great unknown at this point. Signs are good though, and I for one am really happy with the coaching department, and in particular, Neeld.

I genuinely believe that we now have the best coaching setup in the AFL. Coaches picked for coaching ability, not playing ability, aka Scott West vs. Andrew Nichol.

I had never thought much of Royal or Mahoney but obviously those at the club do? Besides them, the additions of Rawlings, Craig, Misson (and let us not forget that todd viney was/is one of the best assistants in the AFL), it is very exciting for 2012

Did you see Bate play this year? Dont know how many games you attend a year... but the guy does not deserve a spot on our list (In my opinion... and should be the coaching staffs aswell.... as it is the right opinion)

I cant see any way how he makes the side next year..

And to reply to Bing181.. Look at some of the forwards traded in the past couple years over trade period

Jay Shulz could have been worth a shot ( Had a solid year with Port)
Hale would have been a great fit aswell as you said
Also Jonathan Griffin could have been a nice addition last year to the list as a backup ruck or FF.

lol!!!

I give it until our first NAB cup loss until some jump off the bandwagon.

I am not expecting to to make top 4 or anything. Will have to improve considerably to make top 8 even. I just want too see a more competitive team that goes out and gives 100% each and every week. I want us to compete with the great teams (Collingwood, Hawthorn, Geelong) and win some interstate games etc.

I want an improvement on 2010. Pretend the 2011 season never happened but we retain all of the lessons that came out of it and remember why.

Good call. See West Coast for an example: end of 2009, they won a few games on the trot and everyone thought they were going to be the next big thing in 2010. Instead they had a horrible year, and everyone wrote them off at the start of this year. Then they came from the clouds to finish fourth.
In retrospect someone should have picked 2010 as an aberration and seen this year's performance coming, at least in some way.

It can be done.

West Coast are a powerful side off the field and it's shown by fast their turn around resulted this year. Teams usually find it hard to bounce back but we have positioned ourselves the best way possible and now it's up a reinvigorated gameplan in 2012...

Well done to Neeld and well done to the MFC in general for talking the talk and then delivering

West Coast were certainly aided by big bodies new faces in NicNat, Shuey and Darling. Woosha is a smart, hard coach and drilled them into the ground in the off season to learn a new game plan. Added that Cox and Glass had full pre seasons and showed they were still premiership quality players.

Our list is very different to West Coasts and our players need to be taught many lessons. It's been a good off season but the hard work hasn't started.

Thats amazing... Half the players haven't even met him yet.. Imagine your new coach writting this hahaha :):thumbsu:

That twitter post, as insignificant as it is in theory, has me truly excited for the next few years. Hard bloke, seems to know what he's doing too.

Have you? Watch him vs port, showed what he is capable of, if he wasn't fecked around this year he would have a chance to show what he is capable of

Chip replied as well saying he'd done weights and running and deserved it lol

I'd actually like to see what Neeld has in mind for the NAB cup

Will be interesting to see if he's going to simoply experiment and check out some of the players or if he's actually keen to have a crack at going deep into it

I doubt there'll be many dropping off the bandwagon though unless we play and utterly appauling style of football

If we're contesting games well, winning, and only losing by small margains i think everyone will be satisfied

I just hope he's a coach interested in winning games....not friggin quarters
