...should go back to selling air conditioners as his commentating is repetitive, boring and usually lacking any relevant facts.

Richie Benaud, Bill Lawry, and Ian Healy are the best. Healy has really stood out to me. :)

The Hitman

P.S. Does anyone remember and Indian guy called Hasha Bogle (sp?)? He came over for the last Indian tour and commentated on ABC radio. He was a gun! :D

Harsha is probably the best cricket presenter in the world at the moment, bar Ritchie Benaud of course!;)

I agree about Healy. His comments make sense and he brings an insight into whats going on out there. Taylor is too opinionated. He went on about the rotation system for half an hour last night and he was saying things like "the rotation system doesn't give people a chance to get into any sort of form with the bat." Thank god Tony Grieg was able to point out Mark Waughs average of 80 for 2001 under the rotation system....

Anyone hear Bill tell Tony he was right about something last night! Tony seemed very happy about it, you could almost see his smile through the TV! "Thanks Bull!" Very amusing.:)

I'll still take the ABC's commentry any day. Geoff Lawsons pearler the other night when Bevan got out ("Styris won't be in the play at all at first slip") was a pisser.

Ian Smith started off well in the tests but his constant whining is starting to get on my nerves now.Healy has shown himself to be the Dermott Brereton of cricket. He has an excellent understanding of the technical and tactical aspects of the game.

The Hitman,

Hasha Boglay also works on the tv presenting and commentating India games. He was on for the Indian tour of South Africa and also now with England vs India one-day series which is on Foxtel. :)

SeinDude

I actually think Ian Smith brings a bit of spark and personality onto the commentry team. Did anyone catch the conversation he had with Tony on Sunday (Aus vs SA)? It went something along the lines of:

Ian: So Tony, tull us who your supportung this series. Is it Austrulia or South Efruka?

Tony: Well one thing for stawters is I want to see Australia and South Africaw in the finals.

Ian: Gee thunks Tony!

Tony: *haw haw haw* Then we'll see what happens awfter that.

U may call me a hawwsh judge, but I can't stand Ian Smith. All he ever does is whinge about decisions and still goes on about one that happened when the sheep screwers were lawst in OZ!

I don't like him much either, but it's good to have someone who says what he thinks. The other 9 commentators are so bland.

He is fair for most of the game too. It is understandable him being a little biased towards NZ but he remains very fair throughout.
He is a nice change from the constant praising Tony Greig gives Sydney, the SCG, NSW or anything to do with that state.
I'm not starting any NSW/VIC rivalry, but it just pisses me off how they rave on about how wonderful Sydney is blah blah blah. They are also very quick to criticise anything to do with Victoria. I wonder how Bill Lawry can restrain himself from KO'ing Greig in the commentary box!

Did anyone hear the other night (Aus Vs Nz, SCG) when Richie Benaud was having a subtle dig at the Melbourne crowd, by saying that the Sydney crowd was a "happy" crowd and a "well behaved" crowd?

Since when were the crowds in Melbourne unhappy???

That's the end of my beef for the day!!!

Yep, I dislike Taylor's commentating however Healy is enjoyable to listen to. I find the radio has better commentary overall though. They have a good laugh and it's fun to listen to!

I've gotta agree with everyone regarding Healy, we had him on over here in England last year & he was like a breath of fresh air.Unlike the most of the other dreary crowd of ex players-Mark Taylor,Ian smith,Ian Bishop,Mark Nicholas etc

I think the overall standard of ABC radio commentry is good, except for the bias and self-indulgent remarks made by one Kerry O'Keefe. I personally can't stand is antics and especially is horrible laugh - it's enough to put anyone off.

BTW... Healy for Commentry Team Captain when Richie retires.

That doesn't mean he was having a "dig" at Melbourne...you're too sensitive.

Bill f***** Lawry!!!!!!!!!! Doesn't know the difference between swing and movement off the pitch. Keeps on saying 'its all happenning' and how perfect the pitch is and nothing else worth listening too.

Put him out to pasture with his pigeons
