I'm still not sold completely on Hirds return. But, I'm a little concerned from a few that it is part of an AFL plan. And I don't trust the AFL tbh.

And how will you feel that, should essendon survive all this, it is only under the full and total control of the AFL til they are considered viable again ?

The way i read Martie's statement about writing the forms, he meant he is the type of guy that writes things like that not the type that requires to use them as the person having the dig at him was alluding to. So I think he meant something completely different to he wrote those paticular forms. In regards to Evans no misunderstanding there he 100% claimed Evans ran the program.

Yes fair point.

thats the way i read it as well.
still good for a laugh regardless

To what degree the board and, by extension, Evans were aware of the program is something I have pondered from time to time. I don't know enough about club boards to have a feel for the sort of info they would require to sign off on a global budget for any new program. In the end, in terms of board culpability, I think it will all amount to nothing. My guess is they were probably unaware of any meaningful detail and, even if they were fully aware, the people who are on that board are clearly smart enough not to leave muddy footprints behind.

Evans attended the meeting at Hird's house with Dank and Weap where they discussed how to make the club great again.

That's where it started.

But that's a long cry from saying he "ran it".

Hird ran it. From go to woe.

MaddAdam might have something to add.

As I have said elsewhere, the people Weap threatened with appearing in court is deeply interesting.

Surely just a throw-away line/joke in a forum.

Sledging Evans is pretty consistent with the Hird-camp believing him to be a traitor. The line about writing the forms is consistent with Hardie believing he is central to the story and forcing himself into it at every opportunity.

I can't imagine anyone at Essendon commissioning Hardie to do anything. I can imagine Hardie volunteering and being humoured after the story broke, and him presenting that as a grander involvement than it was.

Hardie was a paid consultant to Essendon for a significant period.

I read it, picturing Mr. Toad from Wind in the Willows tapping away furiously away at his keyboard, full wineglass beside him, several empty bottles scattered around... (says more about me, I know)

Explains why the consent forms were so poorly drafted
Think about the consent forms for a minute.

They are initiated well after the substances program commenced, so already they are too late in abrogating the players of their responsibilities according to the WADA code if they have been given something illegal.

So what purpose do they really serve?

Personally I think the players realised something was amiss well into the program and a contrived system which put no compulsion on any party to the consent to provide authenticated ASADA advice on substances. It's not like they could say we used 'Thyomosin' and we got advice from ASADA. Because ASADA would have it on record that they (ASADA) asked what type of 'Thyomisin'

It was a poor attempt to shift responsibility to some other party because they knew if they got caught out in the already illegal use, they could try and say someone else should have checked, 'look we signed a document saying someone said it was all legal'
