Up front, the only text messages that really interest me are the ones involving Jack Trengrove (think about his failed move to Richmond and his Navicular injury).

Thanks.

Thats totally not a surprise. I hate to be the one to tell you but there won't be a Royal Commission into this and it will pretty much end when the ASADA game ends. Nobody is going to be surprised that there might be some dodgy dealings at the top of the AFL, in fact most fans would expect it. It isnt an interesting subject for football fans, the AFL are what they are. We care about what happens on the field and also, allegations of cheating to gain an advantage on the field.

CozzaD has read a series of articles and linked them together in a conspiracy theory. Go study JFK's assassination. Was it the man with the umbrella, on the grassy knoll, the CIA tramps, the Secret Service agent in the car or could it have been the nut with the rifle?

Check that - there is more credibility in some of the JFK theories than there is here.

Most of his conclusions are BS. At best, he is extrapolating factual information to reach an unsubstantiated conclusion. At best.

I see no link between the ASADA scandal and property development. Nice theory, no legs. The political stuff is a guess. Whilst I have no doubt that people at the AFL, Essendon and possibly other clubs have skeletons to hide or vested interests in manipulating all sorts of things, I don't buy into some global conspiracy that somehow has its roots at the ALP's headquarters (which I am sure must be located at Tullamarine and that is why the EFC left Windy Hill).

He has fed you some facts and wove the rest in fiction. No problem with it as a theory (though I don't accept it) but he is passing off his information as fact and that is unadulterated crap. People here are giving him the attention he desperately craves.

Someone earlier made reference to The Tailor of Panama. Perfect analogy. The story of a spy who corrupted a tailor to squeal on local secrets in Panama or be sent to jail. Panicked, the tailor told stories that he made up. It fed back to the military and nearly starts a war. Chinese whispers.

Smoke and mirrors (where's the Travis Cloke video?)

Hi Ech,
For Hird/Charter 2004 links, I haven’t gone back that far yet.

Weidler’s article means nothing to me in the main. I’m not a pro journo, so can’t access these ‘text messages’. Dank’s had 2 years to talk, he hasn’t done so, likely never will.

Up front, the only text messages that really interest me are the ones involving Jack Trengrove (think about his failed move to Richmond and his Navicular injury).

Again, my stance is not that “ASADA” is the end game here, there is more to it.

The issue won’t be fixed by ‘solving ASADA’.

Thanks.
A simple 'yes' would suffice.

Hird is fighting the evidence, the process, anything he can to get off with a finding of innocence. It's the only option his ego and image of himself will brook.

Evans, Lukin and Demetriou (and Gill?), once it became clear that this couldn't be swept under the rug, came up with a plan that would wrap the whole thing up in a nice bow with a couple of not-so-innocent fall guys, Robinson and Dank. This plan would convince the public that it was all over, just a mistake, no intent to cross the line but we just stuffed up a little, terribly sorry, players were innocent, now let’s all get back to watching the footy with no need to dig any further.

Dank didn't like what he saw being put into motion and began leaking text messages and emails to warn those parties that he had dirt and wouldn't go quietly off into scapegoat purgatory. This set the connections onto a new plan with a somewhat varied scope due to: a) the public knew something more was up and was getting more and more angry; b) it prolonged the unresolved situation and gave certain investigators more time and incentive to dig; and c) James Hird had become irrevocably smeared.

It was at this time that Hird was called in and asked to fall on his sword gracefully to protect himself and all others involved. The intention was that he would “accept full responsibility” and “assure all Essendon fans that there was no intent to cheat”, but “in the interests of the club, the players and the game” he would “stand down until the matter was resolved”. This was intended to sate the public’s need for the big scalp, tie the whole thing up in a nice bow, it’s all over, just a mistake, no intent to cross the line but we just stuffed up a little, terribly sorry, players were innocent, now let’s all get back to watching the footy with no need to dig any further.

Hird refused to play this part, because in his mind he’s the hero, not the fall guy, and began going after Demetriou in public. Evans, knowing that Hird couldn’t be sacked at that juncture and not liking the way things were careening out of control, departed to enjoy his wealth in obscurity and hoping that the fallout wouldn’t find him.

Demetriou, realising that they’d lost control of the narrative and needing to give the public blood to settle things down, then leveraged the interim report into some stiff penalties for Essendon which included a 12 month ban for Hird where he’d be shipped out to France and hopefully the whole thing would be sorted out before he returned. However, ASADA were not to be assuaged by the governance sanctions and declined to cease their investigation once the AFL had de-camped from the partnership and Demetriou also decided to depart to enjoy his wealth in obscurity and hoping that the fallout wouldn’t find him.

Now here we are with Hird still fighting in a vain attempt to clear his name. Thing is, there’s way more to this than some footy players being doped and Hird has kept the public focussed on the issue for so long that a lot of digging has been done. The irony is, that had Hird listen to Evans mid-2013 and played the martyr, his image would very likely have come out this in much better shape. He could have been the poor, inexperienced and trusting coach and all-round good guy, who made the simple error of giving an either incompetent or dodgy operator in Dank too much leeway to administer his supplements program.

But now we’ve all seen the raging, grasping narcissist desperate to avoid responsibility at all cost and shift it to anybody else, no matter if friend or foe. More than that though, he will still likely go down for being a key component of instigating a team-wide doping program, and it’s also very likely that all the other dirt regarding the other shadowy backers of the program will also come out. All with James Hird front and centre and pleading his innocence amid a whirlwind of incontrovertible scandal.

Well written Sir. I'm very impressed.

I suspect someone is:

1. Using us to pick holes in the 'story' and clean it up

2. Alerting interested parties (media etc) that something is cooking for what reason remains to be seen.

Wait ans see but there is no way Cozza is making this up (so to speak), their is an angle here. Could it be Barkley St End?
Take focus off Hird. There are forces greater than him at fault. A common tactic of Hird/ EFC to fling mud at others.

it's the one everyone pretends to show great concern over
but then do nothing about it

I am not a mind reader CC

does this mickey mouse roid work? Are athletes allowed to use it?

Have there been athletes banned for using this mickey mouse roid in the past?

3 questions CO, all requiring a binary response

Don't worry, he never posted on the Hawks board ;) but he went by the username bighawk65 (or similar). This was quite a few years ago. To figure out which journalist trolling and adelaide should clue you in. ;)
Nope, I've got no idea as I'm Vic-centric. Which journo doesn't like Adelaide?

For the sake of completeness and balance do exactly the same stories but this time use Liberal Party connections.
I bet you won't do it

It will probably revolve around Hawks/Waverley Park/Mirvac/Kennett dealings from 1999, but I haven’t gone down that path yet.

Fitzroy’s shaftage from 1996 needs to be revisited too, in my view.

OK?

So essentially you are just describing how all business is done in the western world. If you don't like it you should spend some time in the east

Collating that as we speak (from Medical-related text). Have found some interesting stuff circa 2009/10 on this. Again, if anyone can track down Tim Boreham's article on AOD9064 from Feb or March 2010, that is key. Thanks.

WHILE there's been no heavyweight buying, don't be surprised if a few bodybuilders have been bulking up on this one in the hope the biotech re-starts development of its stalled fat-fighting compound AOD9604.
Then known as Metabolic, Calzada pulled its main trial in February 2007, after the orally delivered drug failed to demonstrate efficacy across a wide (in many cases, literally) sample of candidates. Given the company had spent $65 million on getting the trials that far, the shares went on a crash diet and never recovered.
The problem with orally delivering such a peptide-based treatment is that too much of the protein is absorbed by the gut. Since then, someone has devised an injectable version and a counterfeit version is being sold by Chinese manufacturers on the black market to bodybuilders for up to $2500 a gram.
When you're already on a rigid exercise and diet regime, there's not too many other ways to shed weight quickly (which bodybuilders need to do to meet competition fat-ratio limits). Oddly though, the original trial produced the most favourable results in a subset of obese and exercise-averse women.
Calzada is now pondering its options in terms of salvaging value from the compound. "I have always been a great believer in the drug," says David Kenley, who left Metabolic in mid-2005 and re-joined a year ago. He now runs the AOD9604 development arm, Metabolic Pharmaceuticals.
Kenley's mission to revive the program was bolstered through a research tie-up with the listed Phosphagenics, to develop a transdermally delivered version for cosmetic use.
Two weeks ago, the board formally allocated a small amount to salvage value from AOD9064.
One option is to pursue the patent breaches, but when it comes to China the terms "snowflake" and "hell" come to mind.
Another tack is to resume limited trials, but a licensing strategy is more likely. Kenley believes the old Metabolic "squandered" millions of dollars to pursuing the oral delivery method, which offers the biggest potential market. Calzada shares have crept up from a low of 2.6c last month, but are still trading only just above $10m cash backing. Calzada's also owns Polynovo, which is developing biodegradable polymers for applications such as dressing burns victims.
Kenley says both businesses could make a fortune, but we have little doubt what investors see as the fatter prize. Speculative buy.

Which has what relevance to the EFC other than a few personnel who had little involvement in the program?

I'm actually not sure that the property deals are linked to the EFC program by anything more than one or two mutual investors, maybe not even that. CozzaD isn't really giving us enough to tie those things together with more than general vibe of corrupt AFL guys gonna corrupt, especially when the Vic ALP is involved.

However, there is certainly more to the Bombers program than meets the eye. This wasn't just Jimmy Hird employing Dank with a nod and a wink and he did his thing. I've heard some things, Baker and McKenzie have printed some things, and I think there are others who know some of it too - other posters have hinted. Thing is, while I'm reasonably confident my info is good, I'm by no means sure so I'm happy to keep it to myself for now. I'm hoping that CozzaD may bring something to light that can confirm some of what I know. Though, I'm starting to lose faith in the scatter-gun approach they're taking.

The property deal is Thompson’s trigger (or maybe a payoff, outside the AFL system) to return to Essendon, remember there was a meeting at the Australia Club in late 2010 where ‘the old Essendon boys’ worked out how to rebuild Ess, with Hird, Thomspon etc back on board. Remember Thompson screamed "I'm stressed" when he quit Geelong? Bullshit.

The link to the Australian Club in December 2010 (again, note chronology!) meeting is here. Mark Casey (Thompson’s partner in Armstrong Creek deal) and Michael Schaivello are mentioned.

The ‘land deal’, and Thomspon’s exit from Geelong so soon after it, are part of building the ‘chronological and 'who knows who' links’. Think like a Detective and a white board here.

Also, stop thinking that the drugs are the end game. We have to evolve from that ‘Caro Wilson told us’ mentality.

Essendon looks forward as feuds between powerbrokers end
MICHAEL WARNER HERALD SUN DECEMBER 08, 2010 11:30PM

IT WAS the dinner credited with bringing Essendon back together.

Last Thursday night at the exclusive Australian Club on William St, Bombers chairman David Evans played host to about 80 of the club's wealthiest supporters and powerbrokers.

Feuding factions that had spent the past three years tearing their club apart paid a cool $1500 a head to smoke the peace pipe at a lavish, invitation-only soiree.

Past presidents Graeme McMahon, Ray Horsborough and Neil McKissock were there, as were influential Essendonian and Diamond Don coterie members such as property developer Mark Casey and furniture dealer Michael Schiavello.

Schiavello, an Essendon coterie man for more than 20 years, went public in August with an offer to pay out some of Matthew Knights' contract if Essendon sacked him and replaced him with Hird.

"I couldn't be any happier," Schiavello said yesterday.

"We got everything we wanted with James Hird coming in and Bomber Thompson coming back to our family, where he belongs. This will be a new era for the Bombers.

Other guests included Computershare founder Chris Morris, pharmacheutical company CSL's chief executive Brian McNamee and outgoing board member Beverly Knight, tipped to be replaced at next week's annual meeting by Paul Little, retiring chief of Australia's biggest transport company Toll Holdings.

Cozza, I have gone back and read your posts and have a couple of comments:

1. The land deal. Fail to see the relevance at this point to the actual topic, ie did Essendon breach the WADA code. Land deals are done all day every day, and buying land on the fringes and waiting for it to be rezoned is standard practice. Lobbying Govt and even offering bribes (of some form) seems pretty common also. This is just human greed in action and people using connections.

2. The Geelong angle. Really fail to see why them being offered a cheap land deal to move there for training differs from Hawthorn getting Waverly from Mirvac for nothing. A number of clubs have been offered financial incentives to move. Maybe some form of conflict given Bombers involvement but it did not go ahead.

3. David Evans and AOD. Now I am interested to see where this goes. As I have said, Evans looking at an investment is not unusual, he would do it many times a week. That said, Calzeda is not a company that would normally get in the door at Evans and Partners and that may indicate something but its normal for people to leverage off relationships to open doors. Evans and McGuire are greedy, so if someone tells them they could make a killing they would be in to.

But I can see an angle here. One of the things that surfaced during this mess was a claim that Dank had been running a medical trial for Calzada that lets him use the placebo story to hide who took what. This was not a sanctioned trial, it had not been reported by the company but if, and its a mighty big if, Dank was running the trial to get the inside running of whether it worked it would be of huge benefit for any potential investors to have this information.

That said any trial Dank did would be pretty much worthless as he was pumping them full of so much stuff that it would be impossible to work out whether it was AOD providing the benefit or one of the other drugs/supplements he was using on them.

Apart from this, all I see at this stage is people acting out of greed and maybe a bit of corruption around a land bank but that has no direct line to what ultimately happened at Essendon. I will watch your upcoming instalments with interest.

Before you can be presented the links, you need the anchors.

Goes to get more popcorn. This should be entertaining over the comjng days!

That was me. I'm glad others are familiar with it.

We have had to endure a certain poster going on (and on and on and on ...) about confirmation bias. And then suddenly, out of nowhere comes a poster with all these smoke and dagger* dealings. Classic case! Everyone hears what they want to hear.

And where does he choose to reveal this info that will shake the establishment to its core. Why, on BigFooty of course!

* I couldn't decide between smoke and mirrors or cloak and dagger, so I compromised.
