Why would Grundy and Witts be put out by this guy coming to Collingwood?

If anything, they will probably be glad they have someone to beat up on in the training session ruck contests...

He is going to be a long term project and one has to say, he is a long shot. Good luck to him and will be a freak if he makes it with his size and agility but, its a bit early to be talking about who he is going to shove aside in the best 22.

Doubt that the will Beat Up on Cox

It was a joke. Do you really think that I was seriously suggesting that Grundy and Witts would intentionally commit assault on their new teammate?

Frankly this guy is too old to recruit with zero football anything

No He is Not.

Remember he is a Ruckman and they can take long time to get into there Prime.

He may come on very Quickly.

Shae was too old at 26

I haven't seen a lot of Cox...

(Fortunately I think.)

But 23 year old... I would assume he has basketball player body.... Probably a year of adding some "padding" as he Is entering a contact sport.

I'd try him as a key forward... Hopefully he plays like Tippet and Buddy more than a ruck since Pies are set at ruck Position.

How old was Mike Pyke when he was recruited? And he didn't turn out too bad
He was about 25 when he was recruited. But he was a completely different scenario.
He was a professional rugby player, had competed at an elite level, and had represented his country in international games. He had a very natural talent with the ball, he picked up the sport easily. He was already built tough and used to the rigors of a full contact sport. It took him about 18 months to settle in to the game.
You can't compare that to a tall lanky college level basketballer, never played a full contact sport, never tackled or been tackled, who is obviously not good enough to make it in the sport of his choice so looking overseas at a different opportunity. It's a vast difference.

Divison 1 NCAA Basketball I would also call Elite Level. Just behind the NBA.

What I saw in the Video’s Mason did not look bad with ball in hand and Great Below his Knees and Also not bad overhead.

Yes but you are Mr.Negative here about this.

Give the Kid a Go

Hine said he could make it as a Key Forward

But he was also a very high level soccer player like our very own Lachie Keeffe.

Lots of valid points here.
I also have some of my own suspicions but the club and the experts seem to think there is potential.
Ultimately there is no harm in trying

Never played a contact sport is one but my main suspicion I posted earlier and that is the fact that if he has so much potential as an athlete why would he play AFL. The money for 'also rans' in the USA is much more than he will ever make here. So why wouldn't he just play basketball or baseball or football in the USA if he really is such a gifted athlete

What I have read from his Twitter and Articles. He never played Basketball before College so He had to Start from Scratch there and He was on the FC Dallas Devlopment Team.

Just never settled on 1 sport seems to me

Maybe he wants to be the 1st Real American Superstar in the AFL?

Yeah. Or maybe he loves the idea of coming and living in Aus. Or maybe he loves all the attention he has already got in Australia.
Like I said it's only a suspicion.
I am however 100% behind the clubs decision to recruit him because we really don't have much to lose but potentially a lot to gain.

Well I say Hine would put him thru the Griller over that Stuff and I guess Hine was Happy what he heard.

If what you said he be gone after 1 season. If that Happens then it be Nothing Lost on our Part.

Hope he is Serious as he has big time Potential

In Hine We Trust

That's the bottom line I guess. I am just sitting here speculating but if the people who are professionals when it comes to these things think it's worth it then there must be something there.
