He's exciting due to his physical size and raw potential. Massive coup getting him and amazing to see where he ends up in AFL in the years to come.

I just hope he is settled and doesn't miss home too much. Hopefully he finds a stunning Melbourne girls that learns to love big Cox.

Bloody rapt that we got him. Tallest player in the comp alone is good enough if he can mark the ball in front of goal. What does Sandilands do that an athlete of his size couldn't do, really? As long as he makes a contest of contesting for the ball when in the air, he'll either clunk it, or get rewarded a free kick. Pass it off to Pendles, Elliot, or Sidebottom, and we get a goal. Could be a massive get if we get him out on the park. Exciting times..

He is much more athletic in every category the Sandilands who can barely jump of the ground luckily for him he is a man mountain.

Cox if he can pick the game up including the nuances should be a good chance being his height and athletic profile.

I must say I am surprised at hearing such positives about Cox's progress, and sounding like its not just spin coming out of the club. I was happy to get him, but really didnt take it all that seriously, especially after Shae...

And then there is the seemingly insurmountable issue of having someone on our list who has never actually played a game of AFL. Picking up the skills is one thing, but learning how to read the game (at breakneck speed) and position yourself are entirely other matters.

But maybe, just maybe, we will crack it with Mason.

I thought the same but than remembered Blicavs who IIRC played bugger all football and managed to punch out 23 games in 2014 and 22 the year prior.

This is really exciting and very interested to watch his development.

Is it not beyond the realms of possibility that we could even see him feature in a preseason game to give him a little sniff of what's on offer???

I'm happy to here he is developing at a rate faster than expected. I'd hate to be the one to sour the mood, but 3 names come to mind, McNamara, Dyas and Richmond. All supposed project players that never ever amounted to anything, I do hope Mason is a exception to this!

True that those players never amounted to anything, but at the same time, those 3 never had the type of glowing reports that Cox is getting, nor did they have his freak athletic abilities and apparent ability to switch sports with relative ease.

I'm still tentative about it, but if what Hine and Elliott are saying is true, we could have a gem on our hands here :straining:

And I genuinely hope he is :)

One of the interesting things to read was the excellence he's achieved in many sports, switching from soccer to basketball etc, and his application to learning new codes.

His work ethic and ambition seem to be very impressive, and he's competitive.

He's a very exciting prospect.
