Depends on the distance.

Up to 1200, then Miss Andretti for sure.

1400-1600 - I'd say Sonic Quest - The Emirates will tell me if i'm right

2000 - Maldivian >>> El Segundo

2400 - Maldivian if he can run this trip, if not then MO

2600+ - MO

Do you disagree? :)

Slightly on a couple of them, but thats not what you asked.
You said they were the best in the country.

I'll tell you what if either of them get even 10% of the votes that Miss Andretti will get in the horse of the year award then i'll admit you are right :)

1400-1600 - Divine Madonna

2000 - El Segundo

2400 - Master O'Reilly

2600+ - Gallic

Yes. See above, edited. To hard to judge horses past 2600m, we only really have 4 group races at 2600m +. Going on form you would have to say Gallic.

Your analysis is like swiss cheese, to many holes in it.

Yes Divine Madonna is so good, she went back to mares grade and didn't exactly destroy them. On the other hand Sonic Quest came out in open grade, sat back, came 6 wide and won like Phar Lap last start.... Gallic JUST won the weakest race i have ever seen last start. When he was doing well earlier in the year where are all those other champion horses he was JUST beating now?

El Segundo beat a very mediocre Cox Plate field this year. He failed the previous year to an old timer about to retire (I still love El Segundo by the way). I would love Maldivian and El Segundo to have a match race. I'd sell my soul to the devil if El Segundo outsprinted Maldy if they were both at there top.

Now why don't you explain why you chose yours Dustbin. :)

Divine Madonna has won a Toorak and a Emirates.

El Segundo 2nd and 1st in a Cox Plate. Maldivian, awesome in the Yalumba no doubt. I reckon this time next year he would've taken all before him. El Segundo has the runs on the board.

Yes I agree with you totally on Gallic. But on form you would have to say he is the best 2600m+ at the moment. Ade and Syd cup, enough said.

Ron you chose Maldivian, Sonic Quest MO on potential. I'm surprised you didn't have Weekend Hussler as the best miler. ;)

Ok i'll put this question to you then Dustbin.

Say we had a 5 horse race over 1600m and YOU were the bookmaker

What price assesment would you rate this field. Every horse is 100% at there top. :)

1. El Segundo
2. Maldivian
3. Divine Madonna
4. Sonic Quest
5. Weekend Hussler

Barriers? Track? track condition? rail? Weights???

I'll base it at Flem over 1600m on a good track, rail-true etc...

1. El Segundo 11/2
2. Maldivian 7/2
3. Divine Madonna 5/1
4. Sonic Quest 6/1
5. Weekend Hussler 2/1

El Segundo has a poor Flem record.
Maldivian loves the Valley and Caulfield.
Divine Madonna not enough speed on in the race. Can't spot maldivian or Weekend Hussler a big start.
Sonic Quest questions in this class. It beat c graders in a mile at MV.
Weekend Hussler is the next superstar of Aust racing. Been in awesome his last two starts, even against his own age.

How would your market look Ron?

I asked you that question Dustbin to show how saying that because a horse has proven in the past that it can run the trip or has won a classic over said distance doesn't make it the best horse in the present.

You just rated Divine Madonna ahead of El Segundo when they clashed in the Cox Plate and she couldn't get anywhere near them.... ????????

I'd have them going on how each horse has won on recent form,

1. El Segundo - 7/2
2. Maldivian - 6/4
3. Divine Madonna - 100/1
4. Sonic Quest - 7/2
5. Weekend Hussler - 9/2

Sonic Quest price might look stupid if he doesn't reproduce Saturday but i'll stick my neck out here and you are right about him only beat c graders but you can only win. It's the same with Weekend Hussler. He beat Marching and Scenic Blast, that form isn't looking overy strong now against this lineup, then he got there Saturday under riding against his own age group. :)
