How did we lose that.......

Poor selections cost us this game........

Hampson in for Jacobs???? Why, Jacobs is our best tap Ruckman, everyone builds Hampson up as a forward, he is the worst mark in the AFL. If you want to play a forward/ruckman play O'halphin, has kicked over 30 this season. Hampson has kicked what 3?

Yarrin came in for Hadley?? Again why? Yarrin did nothing in the two's and if there was ever a game we needed an inside mid this was the game.

We are screaming out for a KPD, Bower has been absolutely dismall in the last month, bring in Thorton FFS, he may not give you that much run but atleast he can stand up in a marking contest.

Robinson has totally lost the plot.
Warnock is a better ruckman than Jacobs.

This was Hampson's warm up for next week because he's in our best 22 and gives us more around the ground.

O'hAilpin would take Henderson's or Waite's spot because he can't ruck.

Hadley's lack of pace would have been exposed on Subiaco.

It's Yarran.

I would have played Thornton.

Best tonight:
Murphy, Gibbs, Simpson, Judd, Armfield

Not so good:
Betts, Yarran, Bower, Hampson, Davies, Robertson

Changes:
Hampson, Davies & Robertson OUT
Jacobs, Johnson & Hadley IN

Difference was Ratten not putting anyone on Hill. We have enough guys who can't kick, sacrificing someone to sit on him was the go even with Carrazzo out (didn't even start on Hill anyway).

Yarran was on him for a little bit.

Carlton did try to sit on him, but we had nobody who could keep up with him and getting smashed in the contested ball didn't help, as they won the ball and dished to him over and over again. Rawlings may have flogged him at Etihad, but it's a different story keeping up with him on the wide expanses of Subiaco.

If we are to play fremantle again next week id like to see

out: carrots(if injured) davies, yarren, hampson

in: Walker, Fisher or irish , jacobs, thorton

is mclean or hadley possibility? we need some tougher players in the side.

Agree but Jacobs >>> than Hampson in the ruck, I was trying to say if we are looking to play a forward that can ruck why not try O'halphin, Freo played Johnson as second ruckman and Collingwood play Brown in good effect in that role.

I think Irish could play that role better than Hampson. But I would much rather the Warnock/Jacobs combination.

I posted this on the bay, but it looks like it's needed here too.

Betts had 3 tackles directly result in Carlton goals. Directly. 2 goal assists, a goal late in the game, and a score involvement in Waite's second goal in the 1st quarter. Yes, his goal kicking is shaky at the moment, but he does so much more.

Robinson had 10 contested disposals, 3 tackles, 4 clearances. Yes, his kicking is poor as his decision making and his marking is borderline disgraceful, but we got smashed in the clearances and contested ball, and Carlton desperately need someone for this role and at the moment, Robinson is our man.

We needed a more even contribution that what we got, too many players who simply did not contribute.

Hampson - fairly much non existent
Yarran - needs to work harder & not just do the flashy things
Betts - very ordinary for three quarters
Bower - looks totally out of form
Henderson - had a ordinary game tonight
Robinson - his skills & decision making leave alot to be desired.

It was a good effort in the last quarter, however the 2nd/3rd quarters Fremantle was allowed to control the game too easily.

Robbo didn't have a great night, but so did a majority of the team, why make him the scapegoat, we need to keep playing him, he needs the experience in finals, he was going ok before tonight

More concerning is the form of Betts and Bower, they were terrible

worked hard but lacked midfield space/creativity,little number of attacking clearances from the backs or middle, but we're back next week, prefer to have another go at these guys

Hill is the first person you need to contain in that midfield as he provides so much drive. Like every other team has realised lately, there should have been a hard tag put on but Ratten kept chopping and changing (saw Armfield for a little, Grigg, Murphy/Judd head to head) which let Hill get space. That isn't trying to sit on him, that is rotation. Hill can be contained fairly easily, even at Subi, it's happened on numerous occasions, if we contained Hill, we win.

As an aside thing how much do you hate that ape Mcphee? Need to bring in the expendables to take that guy out, tool of all time, you essendon reject.

Gibbs should of been put on Hill as soon as Carrazzo went down.

Well what to say...I think you lot should be feeling robbed.

Firstly, Harvey putting in Ballantyne when he wasn't on the emergency list...you can't do that, and he will be find thousands. He was quite good i thought, and if he was named on the emergency list like he should have then Ratten might have changed things around slightly incase he played. Imagine if Sandi wasn't named, Carlton only brought over 1 ruckmen and then he ended up playing?

Secondly, if Carrazzo didn't do his hammy i'm 100% sure he would have shutdown either Mundy or Hill which would have turned the game IMO. This also hurt your middfield rotations.

Two influentual circumstances there that will no doubt be over looked.

Not so sure about Gibbs. He doesn't have the pace to keep up with Hill, and he is clearly our best defender at the moment.

Not 100% sure but from the looks of things early, Carrazzo was going to Mundy.

I think Carrazzo would've moved to Hill in the second quarter, had he been fit. Freo kept initiating Hill going head to head with Murphy or Judd in the first, and it worked in our favour for the time Carrazzo was on the ground.

Not sure but I would of thought Carrazzo would of been the man to go with Hill after he got firing, was upset Gibbs wasn't used more up the ground, he was basically playing on the last line of defence. He played a good game, but would of rather have seen him in the centre bounce.

Ballantyne actually was named as an emergency, going off the teams named on Thursday afternoon.
