HF: Nathan Brown, Matthew Richardson, Brett Deledio
F: Mitch Morton, Jack Riewoldt, Richard Tambling

Jay Schulz to consider also.

Richardson - Stef Martin
Brown - Frawley
Schulz/Riewoldt - Warnock/Rivers

Deledio - Bartram
Tambling - Bennell
Mitch Morton - Cheney

Would be very worried about playing Bartram on Deledio if he went forward. Would probably swap him and Frawley around.

Deledio was completely shut out of the game by the Doggies' Picken on the weekend, some young tagger who the previous week played on Harvey and did as decent a job as Bartram managed in Round 1.

Thinking comparitively, Bartram might be worth a go. Granted he would be beaten in a one-on-one marking contest down forward, but Rivers has been floating around every game so far so you'd expect him to be in the vicinity. Not to mention it's a mini-victory for us anyway if Deledio is taken out of the midfield.

Who do you think the Tiges will send to McLean and Jones BC?
Tuck and Jackson usually get their run-with roles, though whether McLean and Jones hurt teams enough to warrant a tag is another question.

I think Jackson might go to Bruce or Green, he's a better suit with his extra height.

Foley and Tuck probably to play on McLean and Jones, they all go hard at the ball, should be a decent contest. Where they might beat us is the pace of the likes of Deledio, Tambling, Matt White and if Coughlan returns, hes got that extra bit of class that we lack. A lot of pressure on our half-forwards to deliver, Bate and Petterd need to both have good games, they've both been way too inconsistent. Someone needs to support Miller and offer something else.

Riewoldt-- Frawley, a very good test of where Frawley is at
Mitch Morton-- Rivers is battling for form and would be good to see him beat Mortin in some one on ones as well as being able to zone off
Richardson when at full forward-- Warnock has to take him hes out best backmen
Schults(if he isnt dropped)-- Hope he plays so that Stef can towel him up
Richardson up the ground-- Bruce or Dunn to play a stopping role on him
Riewoldt/Brown-- Cheney to play on them when they are resting in the forward line.
Not sure about Bartram, i would send him to Foley hes there most dangerous player

Dunn --> Richardson (get a text book lesson)

Bartram --> N.G Brown (Can't think of a better match up)

Jones --> Foley (Very similar players)

Frawely --> Riewoldt (Similar age and similar size)

Would love to see this match up as they were only one pick apart in the draft, and arguably we could've taken reiwoldt if we felt a key forward was a bigger issue at the time instead of a key back

im glad we didnt take Jack, I dont think he is really good enough to be a key forward.

I'd play Frawley on Brown. He did well against Motlop for a half. Hopefully he can extend that into a full game. Motlop is also more creative than Brown.

Richo is hard because he never plays just on the wing or just the forward line. He plays everywhere. Start Dunn on him but make sure that all our tall defenders have an eye for him when he goes forward.

agreed with frawley on brown. As for Richo, Yes Dunn could play on him but lets be honest Dunn isnt the most damaging of players. I would say Bruce would be a decent match-up. He's solid and is good over head and he also has the capability to hurt Richo with his run and his footskills

Richardson - Stef Martin
Brown - Frawley
Schulz/Riewoldt - Warnock/Rivers

Deledio - Bartram
Tambling - Bennell
Mitch Morton - Cheney

Would like to see Davey on Tambling. Be able to run away from him every oppurtunity and hopefully kick the ball into the 50 with ease or get a couple himself. In saying that I think Bennell will sh*t all over Tambling aswell :D

I'm happy with:Tambling - Bennell
Deledio - Bartram

For the bigger guys
How Bailey will line them up:
Richardson - Warnock (Did the job in round 22 last year)
Brown - Frawley (Is getting the dangerous small at the moment)
Reiwoldt - Martin (Next tall)
Schulz - Rivers (If Schulz plays tall/is dropped Riv will play loose)
Moton - Cheney (Leftovers)

How I'd line them up
Richardson - Rivers (Rivers needs to be accountable, he has been poor the last two weeks, he has the smarts to know when to be on Richo and when to drop off)
Brown - Cheney (Give the kid a tough job)
Morton - Frawley (Morton kicks a lot of goals for them when they are up and about, Frawley suits him)
Riewoldt - Martin (Nice fit)
Schulz - Warnock (Leftovers, if Schulz isn't forward rotate Martin, Warnock, Rivers)

At the end of the day

  • Garlands versatility is badly missed, playing Rivers, Martin and Warnock in the same side doesn't quite work
  • It would be bloody nice to have Whelan and Grimes fit and firing because Cheney and Bennell are in for tough gigs at the moment
  • Moore and McGuane might keep Miller and Bate quiet, but there are goals to be kicked on players like King and Rance if our guys are up to it
  • Their midfield has the ability to smash us for pace if we dont get the ball first and apply pressure when they have it. Without pressure the tigers have players who look like superstars, but they crumble if you get pressure on to them.

For Richardson, I'd like to see Warnock take him when he goes forward and Bruce when he's playing in the midfield. He has the tank to go with him.
Warnock needs to study how Brian Harris played him last week.

He basically let Richo run free once he got past the centre square, and then Harris could play one kick behind play. Then if Richo ever came forward, he'd just go and pick him up. Therefore Richo was getting a bit of the ball, but nowhere where it was proving too damaging.

Geez blokes are quick to get on players backs, he has missed the best part of two years of footy and the games has changed. Who had heard of rolling zones in 2007??? Let him find his feet again and be thankful he is playing footy again his best will come back.

In- Maric, Juice
Out- Jetta, Petterd

Fair enough Petterd played well round 1, but if his move forward is going to be permanent, he is under performing and needs to go back and hone his skills. Jetta has been ok, certainly streaks behind Bennell though, and there is plenty of time on his side to work his way back into the team. maric is the one who I wanna see back in. Top 20 draft pick, smashing the reserves, looked composed at the top level last year, its time to get games into the legs of players who are going to be locked in our 22. God I want Grimey fit. Juice too, if only to provide another marking target. 2 years ago fans were screaming to get him in. He has got talent, is just a bit lazy. I'm not giving up on him, but Bate at least is a third tall being asked to acheive more than he should. Newton, Miller and Bate, all at once.

Bah no bling bling

Rivers / Warnock to play on Richardson in the forward 50
Meesen to follow him round the ground...why i hear you ask?

while no one doubts Meesen has the athleticism to dominate games, critics of his feel he doesn't find the ball enough. of all the players on our list i feel he is the best to run with richo, he has the height, endurance and speed to go with him all day. and what better way to teach Meesen to find the ball that put him on someone who has it kicked to him every time the tigers get possession
